I have never picked best answer because I wasn't sure if that would close my discussion. I don't want them to close I agree with you. You never know what someone else's answer will be in the future. thanks for asking this.

If you are talking about choosing the best response selected by user, I tend to wait quite some time and I don't mean hours or weeks. It may be months to find the exact type of answer I want to 'resolve my discussion', end it but also keep a train of thought going as long as I can.
The interest in particular subjects grows when more and more people place their feedback into the original idea, it is how genuinely cognition-stimulating discussions are started and for what purpose are embellished upon . . .
