How do you fight the Monday blues?

Yes, it is Monday again - that dreaded first day of the week.
Just a while back, we discussed which day of the week our favorite is. If my memory serves me right, there are precious few who voiced support for Monday. And since today is Monday, I am assuming quite a number of you would be feeling lethargic, unmotivated, tired and what-not. Right? :P
So now, what tricks do you have to fight the Monday blues? How do you fire yourself up to face the new week? Or do you just sit it out and wait for Tuesday to come? Do share your thoughts! =)
PS.: I have blogged about one effective method to feel good on Monday at http://lordwarwizard.blogspot.com/2007/12/act-clown-to-fight-monday-blues.html . You can take a look if you are interested (if so, you will also come across the details for FREE designer jewelry featuring sterling silver and genuine gemstones ^^).

I try and do the same thing and keep myself busy at work. The day goes by much faster that way and monday will be over faster than I know when I am occupied. The day would be much worse if there was no work to do or little work to do. The days do go by quickly so mondays do not last long enough to feel too blue. :-)

LOL. I like your blog posting. I shall try your method one day. =P
Even though I had no meeting today, I had to wake up at 6am, drag myself out of bed and get myself to Boon lay (I live in the opposite end) =S
That's not exactly the best way to start the week.
I usually try to get rid of the blues by jogging at the end of the day. It works for me. =D

You go from Tampines/Pasir Ris to Boon Lay for what? Buy the 3 for $2 curry puffs at the MRT? :PP
And wah... you so fit one huh?

That scared me! I hate clowns and that has put me into an even grouchier wolfie! I think if you have been out at the weekend or been living it up then you get despondant and sad that it has gone soooo quickly and you spend the day thinking about the fun you had and only another 4 days 7 hours to go and counting, tick tock tick tock. Unless you are not working Mondays are like a living nightmare and hopefully you'll wake up and it's blissful Saturday morning once again and you can do it all over again!

With a 16 month old, and sometimes two of them when i babysit, no day is ever dull! They always keep me busy busy busy!

I used to suffer from a terrible Monday blues during my Uni life. Monday means the start of a gruelling studies, long tests and attending to my patient. Since I can't erased Monday from our calendar, I tried to face it as bravely as I can, LOL!!!
Now that my Uni life was over, I am actually looking forward to Monday. Every Monday is the start of a peaceful weekdays for me. After 2 days of facing the tornado, Monday helps me to relax my senses and calm my nerves. :P
PS: I am still waiting for my amethyst earrings. You think it will look nice on me? My ears kind of long, lol!

At least you have a job and you can earn money by your work. Think about it. If everyday were weekend and you could enjoy your free time every minute, you would feel bored! You will be retired someday, and you will live in that life then. It is also horrible not to have anything to do one day. No matter you feel blue or excited on Monday, it is Monday! You can not change it! So why not enjoy your Mondays?

I am so lucky ! Monday and Tuesday are my weekend.
As I have to work on Saturday and Sunday. I agree with you. we should enjoy everyday in our life. In fact, I felt bored sometimes, but at least I have a good job. I think others have a balence if they compare with me. they can go outside with family, friends. but I can't.
You are an optimistic person! aren't you?

hello my friend.
For years i hated monday morning, getting up in the dark mornings was horrible. So bad did it get that i started booking mondays off work. The problem was that i started hating Tuesdays with an equal ferocity. At that point i changed my job. I now recognise it isnt Mondays I hated but my life outside of my home, I needed to change it
blessed be

I have no choice but to get up and get my son off to school. Its when I get home after taking him to the bus stop, i feel like just crawling back into bed, but I can't because he finishes school early on Mondays and its full on family time together - he loves to draw and do activities or play games. Now that he has made a few friends, last Monday was spent at his friends place on a playdate so I got to catch up on a Movie and curl up in a blanket on the couch and munch on popcorn LOL

I have rainy days and mondays, as the old song goes, rainy days and mondays always get me down. Its the first day of work and I feel lazy going to work coz almost always mondays are the busiest days of the week, I just try to start the day right my early morning quiet time, a time to refresh myself early in the morning. It helps and could help me face the day with a wide smile despite the buzz and the heavy calls and sometimes rude callers. Well, whats new, these rude callers are always there, demanding asking for the best service they could get from us and sometimes they say words that are not so good to hear.
For nine years of working I have always tried to think that its not a monday coz if i do it could affect my performance level.
Hope you have a nice monday and face it with a smile.
Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

So in a way, it is good to get up earlier on Mondays than the rest of the days - so as to ready yourself for the challenges of the new week.=)

Usually, to fight the Monday blues, I will try to arrange all the task that do not require me to be at the desk.
For example, filing my documents will put me in the document room for a good hour or more.
Working on my servers to check the scheduled works.
Getting my vendors to come down to get some of my jobs done.
There are a million and one things one can do, as long as it is not at the desk the entire day. That way, you will not feel so tired and lethargic compared to sitting at the desk all morning.

Hey, I see you found a clever way to fight the Monday blues - getting prospects to your business...lol! For myself, I discovered many years ago I might just as well wait it out for Tuesday. At least there are some good shows on TV on Mondays so that helps close the day out. I always felt Mondays sucked so bad because of working but I haven't been working for a couple years now and I STILL hate Mondays; go figure!

What Monday Blues...Each day has it's ups and downs...Monday friday whatever..I guess this might occur with people that are lucky enough to work the 9-5 M-F jobs..
I doubt if this includes half the population now but it was much more so in the past..
Everyday is a new day with potential for adventure...

I never really have the Monday blues. I guess it's because I love my job, I work for the forestry service. I did find a saying that pretty much says how I feel about my job 'Avoid Work, find a job you love' lol

Wow you pegged that one right! I swear teh only thing good about Mondays is that the kids go to school and for a short time my house is quiet! The best cure for a monday is a hot shower in the morning and like 10 minutes just to sit down drink a cup of coffee and just wake up...If you are rushed then you dont get that satisfaction and the day is usually horrible. Mine is just getting to the point where Im enjoying it because its almost 2 pm and that means there isnt a whole lot left of the day! LOL...There is nothing wrong with getting through monday by thinking about Tuesday or even better Saturday! : )

Oh yes, a warm shower in the morning is cool. Relaxing. Though a cold shower is bound to wake you up, I still prefer a warm one lol.;P

Keep thinking that there are only 4 more days till friday :-)
You can never believe how much this can help,or change your alarm one hour back so the alarm rings early and you see you still have an hour to lie down and relax. Screaming at the toaster is another great way to fix it, or calling in "sick."
