Do you respond to discussions even though you know they will be deleted?

I try not to do this but sometimes I want to let the writer know that they are doing something against the guidelines. There are also the now and then discussions goading us into responding even though we know the discussion really isn't a discussion but the writer will get an unbelievable amount of responses which I think keeps it from being deleted even when it should be. I give those members credit for being very sly. I'm such a stickler for following rules I could never do something like that. Have you found yourself responding to discussions even though you know they will be deleted? Do you sometimes point out to the writer that they are not following the rules?

I used to do that but then I quit when it became clear that some of them were only here for money and didn't care what people had to say. I doubt they even read my friendly advice. Now if I were to see some one I know make an inadvertant violation then yes I still would point it out to them although I may do it in a PM rtaher than a post. If no one has noticed the violation yet, I wouldn't want to be the one pointing it out for everyone to see.

ya sure...there are loads of new users on mylot who are not yet familiar with the guidelines of mylot and so i make it a point to let them know.i almost feel that its my responsibility to do this....doesnt matter if the discussion will be deleted.the important thing is hopefully the user wont do it again...

Most new users conduct "guerrilla warfare" anyway so they won't care.:P

I guess its important for all of us to keep updating irrespective of whether we are new to this or not.

NOW I know why my recipe was deleted!!! I think I should start checking out those guidelines for new ones too. I really didn't realize they changed from time to time!

I avoid discussions that could possibly get deleted like the plague. I value my raitng and points too much. I've a few friends that start all one liners and they are about to be deleted as a freind, as they never respond to any of my discussions and I never respond to theirs either. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

As soon as I see someone on my friends list starting the one liner bit they are off my list. Actually, it's time for me to start doing some clean up! lol

I will respond to a discussion that is breaking a guideline rule because it may not be deleted. I think the only way a discussion may get deleted is if someone reports it as abuse. How else would mylot be able to do it. There is no way they have enough employees to check every single discussion and response. I sometimes let the person know they have broken a guideline rule so that they may not do it again. But I don't report anyone, because the discussion isn't hurting me and I don't take all this that seriously. I am here just to have fun.

Actually, according to the guidelines it's our job to report discussions that are against the rules to admin. for that very reason. Of course mylot can't find every single discussion that is against guidelines and since the majority of members do go by the rules it's not fair that some people get away with breaking them. Yes, we're here to have fun but even in "fun" places there are rules to be followed.

Once. But being new I still am not completely sure what gets deleted and what doesn't (it seems that the rules aren't completely clear). I also responded to something that seems to have gotten deleted because of the responses that were posted. There were some very rude ones.

Just to give you a little help here...Discussions that are only one liners and not really a discussion will always be deleted. As it says next to this little box "please be as descriptive as possible" and they mean what they say. If someone says "I like...whatever do you"...that discussion will be deleted. I hope that explains it somewhat for you.

I don't even know that they can deleted answers. But even if there is someone deleting responds. And I can't find the reason why. Does it bothering them so much? I mean the responds just gonna hang in that page. It's not like they have to carry it with all day. But to answer the question,n I don't think I would respond that discussion

If a discussion is only one line like "do you like music" or "I like music do you"...that will get deleted. If you respond to that discussion before it gets deleted you won't get any credit for your response.

I have sometimes responded to discussions that were deleted later because of abusive language or other matters. Mostly I cannot tell in advance if a discussion is going to stay or will be deleted. Sometimes I am puzzled why it was deleted. In answer to your question though, if I see a discussion that is racist or otherwise unacceptable I will not post to it.

I'm basically talking about the one liner discussions or the ones that basically say nothing that end up getting deleted. Sometimes we respond to them just to tell the writer that they are doing something wrong.

If I read a discussion that is against the rules, I wouldn't respond, I would rate it a ! and explain why it should be removed. But I have found a post that I didn't find offense or against the rules and I have responded and then found out that it was removed. Or I was about to respond andI found out it was removed.

Actually, there is always a number of discussions that violate guidelines. Some people don't learn, others don't care. And the group includes even veteren high-profile myLotters. I am not in the clear sometimes. But really, I do respond if there are things to say. After all, I am showing support for those friends. Who cares if the discussion gets deleted in the end? My friend will know and appreciate my support. My post count drops every day. I answer x post, but from this x, some discussions will be removed. I don't bother to keep track because there is no point. I just do my part and that's all I can do.:P

If I think a discussion will be deleted, ctry, no, I will not respond to it. It would be self-defeating, in my opinion. All of the members should familiarize themselves with the guidelines enough to know what is allowed. I cannot understand why they flagrantly disobey the guidelines.

I don't... there is no point in it. You know that what you answer there will be deleted so why even bother typing. Those are usually disuccions that were made by some begginers that don't know the guidelines. myLot doesn't need such discussions and it is good that they are deleted.

Nope, I try to stay away from such discussions as much as possible...Those discussions that say I reach XXX number of posts, or milestone....I will not reply in them..

I always get a laugh out of those discussions. What can I possibly say when someone says they reached so many posts? They are obviously just going for the few cents for the discussion and don't care about responses.

I prefer to take a more indefinite approach. One more like pretending I am a twig or a blade of grass. Or simply become Pac-Man....Waka Waka Waka Waka Waaah!
