I want to quit working as a nurse. Does anyone else feel that way?

I have worked as a nurse for a very long time now, but I do not want to do it any more. I do not want to work holidays and weekends any longer. I love my patients and that is what keeps me going back. I want to stop working and stay home. I wish I could find a Job as a nurse but do something from home. I almost feel that I am the only person in the world that feels this way. Every time I go to work I don't know if I will be going home at the end of my shift. I get mandated all the time, so instead of 8 hrs I put in 16. I do not want to do this anymore. Well enough of my ranting, just wondering if anybody else feels this way.

i was a nurse for many ,many years, and like you i was tired of all the sift work and extra long shifts.when i became pregnant with my first child i decided to go into pathology as a collector, and now i work normal days and normal hours,so maybe you can look into something different, with your nursing background you can do all sorts of things.i wish you luck
cheers sue

I felt this way about my job, and even though I was awarded sales manager of the year, because of downsizing I am no longer there. I am fortunate enough not to have very many bills, and some savings, so I am going to try to make a go of it working at home if I can find something that works. You are definitely not the only one who feels this way. I think it is a struggle to work for someone else and I cannot even imagine working all of the hours that you are. I knew a lady who was working at home in the medical field making about 3-4000 a month, not a whole lot, but if you don't have a lot of bills it's worth it to try and do something on your own.
