when they are only two years old? I have a half sister that colored my nieces hair at that age and started putting highlights in. I just thought it was a little young to be doing that. I'd rather keep their hair healthy and natural for as long as I can.

Wow, why would a two year old need highlights and colored hair? It seems like your half sister is trying to turn her child into an image she has in her head, and not accepting her child as the beautiful gift she is.

No I wouldn't, why did your sister do that? For myself I even held out until the gray started coming in. And with my daughters, I wouldn't pay for it, so they had to get a job to do their hair.

I would not even consider coloring my child's hair until they were much older than that. Maybe once they get to junior high I would consider it.
A friend of mine has an exhusband who has taken their 6 (4 when he started) year old to get highlights. I think the main reason he does it is because he knows that it ticks her off.

No, I wouldn't. I'm not a parent nor a physician, but with someone so young, could the fumes be dangerous? Don't most hair coloring kits say not to use on anyone below the age of (fill in the blank)? I mean I've used them before, the smell is strong. Not to mention what you said, about keeping her healthy and natural for as long as possible. If she continues to have her daughter's hair colored, it is going to be brittle by the time she is a teenager.

Hello dear laurla. I have never had my kid's colored. I think that it damages kids' hair as they are still so young to have their hair colored because of the chemicals. It is still better to leave it natural and healthy looking. Thanks for your discussion, dear friend.
