Offended Mylotters!

well, i dont easily offended by some comments that i dont like, on some discussions that ive read that the one who post is keep on commenting on the offensive comment, well, its fun reading their post. of course, people have different opinions, so expect that what you think right or wrong, may not be the same to the other person. happy posting.

I've been here almost a year, and I only get offended when people refuse to even consider the idea that someone else's opinion might be valid. I get a little annoyed over the people who seem to think I have to live my life in a way that pleases them. Even then, it's only a little annoyed, and beating up my punching bag for a few minutes burns off the anger. :) I am always respectful of others as well. If there is a situation or discussion in which I have not been respectful, I'm not aware of it. I make a great effort to be tolerant, even to those who aren't being very tolerant of me and my beliefs and ideas.

it's just a matter of how people word their responses. i am one of the 'old' mylotters, hehe, and i tell you, the admin of mylot did a good job maintaining this site. before there were expletives, violent comments, and worst, a lot of copying of posts. these even made mylot members create their own police, lol! now, i agree that there are uptight people here and those onion-skinned who get offended too quickly... well, they won't survive, hehe. but i encountered some war-freak too who seem to hate the world and just make mylot their place to air out their mysery and anger, and find 'victims', urgh! but in general, mylot is a good place. it's where people share ideas, learn, and create friendships.

I tend to agree with you. Any site of this nature which asks for opinions will invite vigorous debate at times. If you expect everyone to agree with what you say, then go somewhere else.

I think sometimes the answer is given because that member did not know enough about the subject and was just answering because he or she had to say something. When one post, one should not let emotion rule you. It is not about respect or tolerance because there are some things I will not tolerate, but you have to understand perhaps that person is reaching out for help and if you give him or her a rebuff, he or her will give up searching.

I think the varied answers from people all over the world are very interesting. We can see how other cultures view life and ideas. It takes an awful lot to offend me. I love smutty jokes or sayings. It's all a part of life and makes life interesting. Humor is my best attribute to life in general as many people that know me can agree with this comment. I'd post all kinds of funny stuff here or indepth conversations about other funny things in my life but myLot would delete it.

Hey that's a great advice of yours. You're absolutely right.Everyone will be offended at least one time.That's because people are different and we do have to respect eachother. I'm glad you brought this up cause indeed it can frustrate you when someone doesn't agree with you and it is our own frustration and anger.

Honestly Ngippol, sometimes my direct answers to discussions were misunderstood and misinterpreted.You're right, due to different cultural beliefs and orientation, we are different from other my lotters.Level of education and intelligence are factors to consider too. What might be right for others might not be right for me and you.Like how our fingers anatomically are shaped with different lengths, so are individuality. Exchange of words of disagreement is good sometimes here in my lot...in a courteous or tactful way...your started discussion will be just an edge to be in the list HOT TOPICS ha...ha...ha... Because you squeeze more clarifications, encourage more discussion and other my lotters to participate.But an impolite argumentative discussion ruins it, but hey we can respect other opinions...wasn't intended to.Sometimes we just disagree... same is true with co-existence in the ANIMAL KINGDOM for SURVIVAL...At the end of the day every cents count to our earnings, LOL! Nice discussion ha!

So far only one person has offeneded me in this site and I have been here for almost three months. That guy even used to follow me to all the discussions i respond then rate them as negative, imagine he even reported one of my discussions. I dont know where he went at last. I was a week old by then. Now that i have made so many friends i dont get offended at all. Every opinion here is worth a cent or so, there is no need of getting offended. Thanks for highlighting this.

yeah...mylotters are from different countries and having different cultures...each of us has his own principles and point of views...i think that we can't always please everybody...so even if we think and don't intend to offend anyone, there's always someone who will be offended...so all of us should just be more open-minded and keep on posting...

I totally agree with you. I think there are way too many mylotters that take this site way too seriously. I like it just for fun and company. Of course, the little earnings are nice too. But come on people, don't get so mad or offended. Some people respond some pretty mean things, and yes some people are just a little too touchy, but there, to me, is no reason to offend someone anyways. Like you say, we all have our own opinions. And so what if someone disagrees with yours. You will never meet them in real life.

You just need to realize that the truth hurts. If you're going to refute someone's statement, back it up with facts. That way you have proof that you're right. If you can't handle the truth, go elsewhere.
