What's your Favorite Christmas song?

I love all of them and listen to them often throughout the year - nothing happier than an merry christmas song! But Silver Bells is my favorite. Unless I am sining with my 7yo GD and then it'd have to be We Wish You a Merry Christmas.For spiritual favorite I'd have to be Oh HOly NIght and Away in a Manger. What's your favorites? Got any that have childhood memories?

It's kind of tough to narrow Christmas music down to favorites because there are so many good ones. I like Silver Bells a lot, too. I probably remember it best because I played it on piano when I took lessons as a kid. I love White Christmas; hard to beat Bing Crosby's smooth voice. When I hear O Holy Night I remember Christmas programs at church when I was in elementary school. Our church always included that in its program, always sung by the same person, the only one who could reach all the notes, I guess. And I remember our little children's choir harmonizing Silent Night, which is such a beautiful song, especially the original way with guitar accompaniment. I haven't pulled out the Christmas music yet, but this is making me want to do that, which reminds me that our family favorite Christmas album is the Muppet's Christmas album with John Denver, who sings Silent Night so well.

That is cool that you have so many memories linked to the songs. That makes them so special. I can still remember the cantata that my youth group sang for the church one christmas some 30 years ago and still remember all the songs even if I wasn't in the singing part of each song! I am teaching Kel Away in a Manger this year - she really likes singing about baby jesus, now that she knows what it is like to have a little baby around and how cute they are!

O Holy Night is my very favorite Christmas song. One that I absolutely do not like is Sleigh Ride. When I was in jr. high, each girls' gym class had to do a choreographed routine for a program, and Sleigh Ride was the song my class had to do. I listened to it about a million times, and don't care to hear it ever again.

Can understand that! Songs can carry bad memories as well as good ones!
