No I dont read the bible because it was written by men who lived thousands years after all the events happined and they altered the messages to be what they wanted it to be and not the complete truth.

It's easy to be overwhelmed by the Bible. You need to remember that The Bible is actually a set of books written over a large expanse of time. The Old Testament tells the story of God's covenant with the Jewish people and the history of the nation of Israel. The New Testament tells about Jesus, God's unique son and the fulfillment of the promises made in the Old Testament.
If you have no knowldege at all about the Bible, start with Genesis and Exodus (and feel free to skip the long lists of names, they are important, but not vital to understanding the big picture) to get a basic knowledge of Creation, the Fall, the Flood, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and the 10 commandments. Once you have an idea on the basics, go ahead to the new testament. Start with Mark or John, and read Luke and Acts to get a good history of Jesus and the church He started.
