Our beagle has been displaying some unusual behaviour of late!

I'm really stumped at the weird behaviour of our 19 mth old beagle lately. She was house-trained quite quickly as a pup, but lately she has been peeing inside more often. We put her out regularly, and sometimes she will let us know she wants to go out, by standing at the door, but other times we will find a puddle on the floor. Often she acts as though she wants us to know she's done a puddle. Even more strangely, is that we bought her a new bed just recently, and she took to it pretty quickly - lying on it a fair bit, but the other night she did a puddle on that!! I was under the impression that dogs liked to keep their beds clean??? We thought that maybe she was just marking it as hers, so we took it outside to dry off and brought it back inside. Then tonight she did another puddle on it!! I just can't seem to fathom her behaviour. She gets plenty of attention from us - my husband and I are home all day, and she is inside and outside frequently. I haven't been able to find any information elsewhere, so I hope someone out there in the MyLot world will be able to help us with this problem. I'd really appreciate it if anybody could shed some light on this issue - otherwise we might have to speak to the vet and see if she has any answers for us.

I agree in checking her for an infection. If she has been doing well housebreaking prior to this, and there has been no major stress or change in your family, that would be my first thought.

Thanks also for your input. As I said above there hasn't been any major change in her life, but we will probably get her checked for a UTI. At further thought - I think she could be a little spoiled :( - when I was recovering from my surgery she got my almost undivided attention, now I am busy doing other things and she has gotten used to being the centre of attention! Don't get me wrong, she gets plenty of attention - she's always getting cuddles, pats, scratches, play and brushes - I think she just might have come to expect it a little too much! ;) Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for your input! I thought it could possibly have been a UTI, but then she hasn't done it for the past few nights or so. I'm beginning to think that maybe it's an attention seeking behaviour. There haven't been any major changes in the household - I had back surgery about 9 months ago, and then a further follow up surgery in October and she was fine around that time. What it could be is that I started walking her daily again around about a month ago, (my husband is unable to walk her due to a medical condition) and this past week, my back has been bothering me, so she hasn't gotten her walk. It's also been quite hot also, and as she feels the heat, I don't like to walk her until it cools down and some nights it doesn't cool down until way after dark. I think we might get her checked out by the vet anyway, as she has allergy problems and I think she may need some medication or diet modification. I appreciate your help.
