Do you travel or stay home on Christmas

I know there are many people who travel around Christmas. I remember when I was a kid, we'd go to my grandmother's house. But it wasn't really "traveling" because she only lived about a mile away. When I lived out of state, we would drive 8 hours to see my family. Now that I moved back to my home state, we don't travel other than going to my parent's house (they live about a mile or so from us). I personally prefer to stay close to home at Christmas. What about you?

We don't really travel for Christmas. Atleast I don't consider it traveling. We go to my grandmothers house and then my husbands. We drive about 45 min to get to my grandmothers house. Then about 30 to get to his grandmothers and then 45 min back home.

That's not really too far to drive. That kind of light traveling wouldn't bother me. I just don't like to drive for 8 or 9 hours. It's hard to enjoy Christmas when you are exhausted.

I used to always stay home for Christmas. My family all came to our house. Since we moved out of state we traveled last year. Do to the high price of gasoline and money being tight we will be staying home alone this year. This will the very first time I have not had Christmas day with my mom and our older kids. I'm really sad over it.

Aww..sorry you aren't going to get to see that part of your family this Christmas. I know that must be hard on you. I understand the money part though. That's mainly the reason we won't be going out of state to see my husband's parents. Gas is just too high.

Airfares are typically expensive at Christmas time. However due to the very cold weather at this time of year I would love to fly off to a tropical country. The Caribbean would be a lovely destination to choose at Christmas time. Holiday locations in Europe tend to be too cold for me in December. A flight or six hours from my home country would include the Gambia, the Cape Verde Islands or Egypt. All of these places have warm and pleasant weather at Christmas time. I have spend Christmas in Australia enjoying hot weather and that was really perfect. I have spent Christmas in New Zealand and I took a boat dolphin watching boat tour. It was a special sort of day that I will always remember. Seeing family at Christmas is superb and seeing the children have a wonderful time. So if I travel overseas at Christmas time I feel that I miss out on this. But I so love traveling.
