I heard the news lately about a woman who lost 195,000 cash from her ATM Card for only 12 hours length. How can this happen? She said: She was sleeping at that time and when she woke up and within the day went to the ATM machine she realized that she lost 195,000 and when she complained in the BANK they only gave her a copy of the dates/time/where it was withdrawn. The bank couldnt help her anymore. Desperate about losing her money she went to the MEDIA who covered the story. They track the places where the money was withdrawn and the time it was taken. 12 hours time span was computed. Here in the philippines 1 ATM card can only withdraw a maximum amount between 20,000 to 40,000. Anything higher that those amounts the person has to withdraw it in his/her mother bank through a teller. The Police was investigating the issue while the bank decline to give a statement. This is the first time that this has happened which brings a lot of concerns to everyone who has a ATM bank account. How safe is it to have your money in the BANK? Is this an isolated case? Has this happened in your country too? Do share your opinion.

In India, though people started using on line banking, the cyber crimes are negligible. Secondly most people still not opted for debit cards and credit cards, because people have lots of time to go to bank and operate the account manually with the help of bank clerks. Therefore such instances as reported by you are not happening but do happen occasionally. Indian banks are still safe because most of the banks are run by government.
