Parent's Choice formula

I am having to supplement with formula, and have to pay around $25 for the name brands (Enfamil, Similac, etc.) I recently found out that Parent's Choice contains all of the essential things, such as DHA & ARA, that these more expensive ones do. It claims that it is comparable to these brands, I just wonder, is it really? I know sometimes you get what you pay for. Have any of you tried this brand, and did you find it to be just as good, or better, or worse, than the more expensive ones?

My daughter was on the Parent's choice gentle blend of formula for a while, and I would STILL have her on it now if I didn't get WIC. I found it to be just as good. Now she is on the Enfamil Gentlease formula, and I haven't noticed a difference at all. I really think it is just as good. The ingredients when you compare are the same. I really think you are just paying for the label on the "brand name" formulas. She made the switch between Parents Choice and Enfamil just fine! I'd say go for it and save yourself some money! I know that with WIC they don't supply enough formula for the whole month, usually you have to buy some at the end of the month, and I will not think twice about buying the Parents Choice instead of the Enfamil.. simply because I really don't think there is a difference!

Thanks so much for your help. I was using Enfamil for my son so it is good to know that I can switch to Parent's choice with no problems.

I actually used Parent's Choice brand and loved it. It has everything that the more expensive brands have. It's all about marketing, some people will not go "generic" just because they are afraid of what people think. But, the Parent's Choice brand is just as good, if not better in the fact that you are able to buy formula for your child easier.....

We used the store brands for our last 2 kids. We'd use Parent's Choice or whatever Target and K-mart had, depending on where we were when we were buying it. Our kids had no issues with and we spent half as much on formula. We used the kind without the DHA and ARA, though, because both of our girls had reactions to it (very upset stomachs and lots of screaming after feedings which stopped when we switched to the regular stuff). Our last pediatrician said to use whatever we had used with the other kids because the store brands are essentially the same thing and are regulated the same way as the big name brands. You just pay more for the brand name.

I would hate for my son to be missing out on something but it is good to know that it is basically the same thing as all the name brands. Thanks for your help.

I have never tried that brand specifically, but what I would do is compare the labels of that and the name brands. If there are differences, bring them to your pediatrician and ask them to compare and let you know if the generic is as good. My pediatrician said that most are fine, but make sure that you're not having to use a lot more of it, making it cost just as much as the name brands. Also, Good Start is cheaper, but the cans are smaller, so be sure to check the unit price. Aside from DHA & ARA, my pediatrician said it is important that formula is iron fortified, so check for that, too.

Thanks so much for your help. I just compared the labels of the generic and name brand and it was the same. Also, it is iron fortified. The only difference I can see is the price.
