I was just wondering if anyone knows anything that will help back pain you have before labor. As of now im dilated to 4 and my back is killing me. I was wondering about using a heating pad but i didnt know if i could use one or not. Its to late to call my doctor tonight. If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

First and formost get daddy to give you a massage. A hot water bottle should give some relief to. As for the heating pad I really can't see it getting hot enough to adversly affect the baby.
If your still not sure, call the emergency dept. at your local hospital they might be able to give you some advice

Thank you both very much for the advice. I have also been drinking warm tea. It seems to help the back pain some.

you aren't supposed to use a heating pad during pregnancy, it gets too hot and the baby can't regulate their temp yet.
one thing i used was a rice bag... it was like a long round pillow that was full of rice (you could tie some up in a dish towel or anything you have handy) and put it in the microwave for about 2 min, it gets warm, but not too hot for the baby like the heating pad does. I used that through out the labor with my youngest, it was all back labor for 3 days! LOL
good luck and hope the baby comes fast for ya :)
