Have we lost the point of Christmas? Is it just an excuse to have a break from work and get drunk, eat too much and get stroppy 'cos they all forgot you wanted the latest Super Slimy Battle Droid Car Park Locator Device, and not last years model? Or is it a chance to get in touch with our eternal selves? Can we ever save X-mas from the toy manufacturers, and advertisers?

Im in my early thirties and over the years Ive noticed that some kids want more stuff than last year, better stuff than their mates or holidays abroad. What happened to Santa, Jesus, goodwill to all men (and women!!), peace, family togetherness?? How many 8 - 13 year olds care about where Jesus was born, or how skint his folks were?? A lot of parents I know still try to bring the magic of xmas into their homes with nativity scenes, trees with gifts underneath etc. BUT, there are also the parents who care more about who in the neighbourhood has the best and biggest decorations, whose kids had the most spent on them etc.
Christmas is now as commercial as the 30 second programmes on tv!!
I can only be eternally grateful that my child asked for 2 nintendo DS games, and, I quote 'If you cant afford both mum, dont worry, christmas is about love and family, not presents'.
In my opinion, xmas is just a stupid excuse to get drunk, fight, get arrested etc. There is hardly enough love for each other without having to worry about loving someone that none of us knew.
I wish you all a peace fuelled xmas, with love, harmony and happiness, God bless y'all..

you must realise one point:it is a commercial society today.however,if you want to save your xmas,i think you can share your idea with your friends and your family.and on xmas, you can stay at home to take a traditional xmas,so long as you will not feel bored.InChina, our sring festival is becoming more and more commercial too.we cannot do nothing but pray we have a good festival.that is all.
