What do you write on your Christmas cards?

I have such a hard time writing something in my cards. I don't want to say the same thing over and over either. I also don't want it to look like I don't care by just signing the cards. It seems like some people always say the nicest things and I know I appreciate it and want to return their kindness. I am so bad at thinking of things to write, can any of you make suggestions for me?

Usually I get a little repetitive and write the same thing in each "To: such-and-such. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! From: such-and-such" It sometimes depends on the person or persons I'm sending the card too though. Sometimes I'll write a little note or a long note on the blank side of the inside of the card. I'm bad at thinking of things to write as well. Which is why I always end up repeating myself in most cards I send, heh.

I found I was saying the same thing. I tried to wish people a happy and healthy New Year if they were older or had some bad health or something about the magic of the season if they had younger kids. I decided I'm going to keep my cards people send me this year and take some ideas from those. I have a relative who always says the nicest things - maybe she has a book or something!

Haha, maybe she does have a book. I wonder if there is one out there with cute holiday messages you could borrow for your Christmas cards. I mean, I remember when I was little, signing elementary school yearbooks (or was it middle school?), I had a paper that came on the back of some box of cakes or something and it had things you could use when signing year books. I kept that with me as I signed books with sayings I took from it. I wonder if people look back now and wonder about things I wrote, haha.
Yes! Borrowing ideas from cards you get this year would be a good plan. Take things they say, word them your own way, and on next years cards you'll have stuff to write. I like that idea. I think I'm going to use it too, hehe.

I always write the name of all family members who are receiving the card, at the top of the card. After the greeting that is already prewritten, I sign my families names. This year, I am including a red & white candy cane with all Christmas cards, and I have printed out a copy of the Candy cane poem, which I am putting in the envelope with the card...just a little something different this year.
I hope this helps. =)

That sounds really cute Nelly. I would just sign my name just getting the Christmas cards out is an accomplishment they will appreciate it anyway & the card usually has it's own cute wording.

I always try to customize them to each person. I try to mention something nice that they have done for me or other people or let them know that I am hoping that they get this thing or that thing that I know they want.
Just try to jot down a couple of lines that are personal for that person. It lets them know you are paying attention to what goes on in their life.

I prepare each card individually for the intended reciepent in mind. I put the names of all those in the household above the verse inside the card. I then underline the part of the card that I think is best suited for them. Then I sometimes write more and sometimes I dont.
