Cleaning house!

If you were to die tonight or tomorrow and they had to come and clean out your house, is there something you have hidden away that you wouldn't want them to find? Or something that might be embarassing? I wrote an article for Playgirl Magazine once and they send you a copy so you can see that they actually published your article. So I have kept it for my records. Do you have something that you would like to dispose of before someone else finds it?

Well, i have nothing to hide, if they clean my house they will see the notebooks that I have kept hidden for many years and all the details and struggles in my life is there. I have prayer lists there for the people that I wanted to reach out and people I plan to share the gospel with. I prayed for these people for a few years now and I hope to reach out to them while im still alive.

Well after thinking a lot I feel actually there is nothing I want to hide from anyone, but this discussion of yours has made me realise that there are many things I have left incomplete, I started writing a novel , which has not gone beyond preface, some poems are there but nothing to hide.

Oh yes, I have some of my worst secrets stashed away at the back of the closet that I would not want anyone to find out. some old worn out lingerie (pls don’t laugh) that I used right after marriage, a pack of love letters (really thick ones), then another pack of small chits that my hubby & me used to leave for each other when we went out (we couldn’t afford a phone those days), some old photographs and ummmmm nothing else really.

I really have nothing to hide in my home what so ever. There are things that might be a little embarassing for my parents to find, like the outfits and certain clothing i wear for my husband...but i would not hide or through them out if something were to happen. I think it's really a very sensual thing to see your spouse happy at seeing you in things he has fantasies about or whatever. So, in all honesty, no...there would never be anything that i would hide or through out if i knew something was going to happen to me. I think with the embarassement from my parents there would also be understanding that came along with it. may be T.M.I, but that's what mylot is all about...sharing and getting in on discussions. God bless

Hmmm, Jill, I never knew you! : ) Years ago I thought of this. I was really sick and I thought, OK, if I die, am I OK with my family going through my things. And I wasn't. So I threw a couple things out, including my diaries. I certainly don't want to live through those years again, and I don't care for my family to know how hard those years were or what was going through my mind.

you wrote an article for Playgirl?? what was it about?? ^__^ it would definitely my diary, rather, diaries. ^__^;; it contains all of my darkest deepest secrets that i wouldn't want anybody else to know because it might change how they look at me! or how they see me. even if i'm gonna die, i think i would be restless in the other life if i know that somebody's reading my diary. ^__^;; i wouldn't want my loved ones memory of me to be tarnished.

I guess that disposing of those items that would be to you embarrassing would be up to you but actually some of those things may be important for your family to have after you are gone. In some ways, those items would only show your loved ones that you were a "real person" and had a life that went beyond being a wife, mother and grandmother. You were actually a sensual woman and playful girl...just as the young women are today but were catagorized "motherly" because of your role in life. Your Playgirl magazine article would prove to everyone that you had a very active imagination and that you dared write your thoughts down and the publishers thought that it was "good enough" to publish it in their magezine so it certainly should be something that you did accomplish and want to be proud of...keep it. I am doing genealogy and I certainly wish that I would have been left with something that would prove to me that they were real people...not all prim and proper all the time....like everyone prefers that they be. Remember even great grandma had a life...but she never told anyone about her wants, dreams and playful antics...no one will ever know that true person...will they? Let them know you better. Go for it girl.

It would be interesting to find out if they had secret thoughts or walked on the wrong side once in a while! And if I know my kids....well if they find something embarassing they initally would be shocked...but then they would have a good laugh for many years!
