I just visited a news site that I regularly visit because I was drawn by one of the top stories: A televengelist with multiple congregations who is refusing to turn over financial records requested by Sen. Charles Grassley. This issue is a recurring one, and it provokes heated discussions, as I noted upon viewing response to the story. The responders were literally tearing each other to shreds over an issue that may never be resolved. Of course I had to weigh in on the discussion. I saw it pointed out many times that these preachers are "entitled" to live rich and prosperous lives. I beg to disagree, because if you believe in Jesus' teachings, I think you should follow His example. Jesus did not live an extravagant lifestyle; just the opposite, He lived an humble existence when He could have had anything His heart desired. What is your opinion on TV preachers who make millions of dollars by promising prosperity to those who may be the least able to afford to send them their money?

These televengelists need to go back and study their bibles, God didn't entitle any one to get rich. I don't even listen to these televangelists because as you said that they are greedy. I do listen to Joyce Meyers sometimes but I have never heard her preach about giving so that you can prosper. I saw where she was the frist to give her records and not complaining at all.

I stay away from those televangelists just for this reason. To me they are just looking for money to put into their own pockets and it gets me so upset to see so many people giving them money thinking it will get them into heaven!!

I agree with you
jesus was poor and did not steal peoples money just to live in luxury
there are people who go to church and cant afford to give money but they feel they have to because the preacher says so, or because he says they will be blessed,
i think this is BS
first of all the 10% tithe they always talk about ONLY applies to the TEMPLE! And priests WE HAVE NO TEMPLE RIGHT NOW!!
So that is BS
