The Problem with Man Made religion Theory

Often times I come across people who think that man came up with the plan to worship a god in order to control the masses. The problem I see with this theory is that it wasn't a well thought out plan.
My question to this is what is the agenda to controlling you in the first place.
But when you look at this cnotrol by faith theory you will see how it will backfire in the generations to come.
Let me explain. Imagine your city official thought that they could control you better by having you and the rest of the city worship some manfish that controls a wave of light world. I know it sound ridiculous but just imagine with me.
Now everyone is worshipping, except those in control, this manfish, and you teach your children to worship this manfish as well. As years go on people are being elected. As the years pass by the city official that wanted to control you are being replaced by worshippers with each passing election.
As time and elections go on the masses will elect those who worship as they do. And as a result the people in control would be pushed out of control.
So you see controlling the masses by faith would eventually bring an end to their control system.
I have to ask what was the agenda of creating a god to control the masses in the first place?

Your odviouly not terribly familar with the election process. The ones in control actually decide who will get elected. Have you not heard of the electoral college? Their the ones who actually decide who will be the next president. They don't actually have to go by the votes at all. The popular vote really dosen't matter. If 95% of the people in the country voted for 1 person that dosen't mean he'd get the office.
Those in control are able to manipulate the situation. They could easily say the great high manfish has made Mr.Such & Such his profit & everyone should elect him & being the obedient followers , they would.
Oh if you don't believe this kind of thing could happen study up on your egyptian history.

uath,
You make a valid point but the thing to point out is eventually the lower end of the election process would be flooded with the worshippers and would eventually expose the corruption at the top. This would lead into some sort of revolt against the Government.

That only because nobody cares anymore. It would be a different story if we as a nation would put our eyes back on God.

You have a very good discussion and i like to respond to you,but i don't know what kind of religion were you referring. If that is the catholic religion it is obvious that it is not the religion Jesus have taught the disciples,if that is the other christian denominations it is obvious that they have copied the same formula of the catholics and removed some like the image worship.

rdurusan,
I wasn't refering to any particular religion. I just wanted to point out how the idea of man creating any kind of belief to control the masses is not a good idea.
I put my trust in what Jesus taught his disciples. But, sadly, there are many that don't know who this Jesus is and why we need to put our trust in Him.
One of the reason is because of the lies I am exposing now.

Rd,
Your last post brings up a good point. Men will use religion as a means of controlling the masses. Mostly for political gain, and taking in money. But they are just using religion and not creatin religion for this purpose.

I don't think religion was created to control the masses. The first "Gods" were probably created out of fear and misunderstanding about the world around them. What makes the earth quake as it does? What makes the sea toss and turn, dragging boats and ships down to the bottom? What causes drought, flood, and other catastrophes?
Thousands of years they didn't know why these things occurred. So they would have tried to think of an explanation. From this attempt, Gods were born. Or so my theory goes.
People would have tried to pacify Gods first with offerings (as history has shown us). Many religions would probably have tried to include a certain conduct that would make the God happy and put the practitioners in the Gods good graces. In the end, it's all about pacifying the deity you worship.
This is all my speculation, though. I don't know if anyone truly knows why religion was created, yet. We only know that it was.

Latrivia,
You make a good point, and I agree to a point. I disagree with you in that the first gods were created out of fear.
God created man, man did not create God. After mans fall into sin a sacrafice was needed for man to atone for these sins. It was God who set these rules not man.
As time went on and man grew further away from God. As a result man started to create god in there own eyes. This is why you have so many different beliefs.
Man didnt want to admit that he was a sinner and decided to form his own god or idol to fit his own lifestyle. In other words man dont want to admit that he is sinful.
This is just scratching the surface but you get the point.
The point is, is that God created man. Not the other way around.
