I have a 8 year old son who has ADD and he is on the Daytrana patch. He has almost all of the side effects, but cant take a pill so I feel like I dont have any other choice but to leave him on a med that makes him sick. I feel like the worst parent cause I keep giving him his med. As long as he is on it he does pretty good in school and when he doesn't have it he doesnt do good and gets sent to the office and has to stay after school, so my question is. What do I do? What the school wants or what I feel is right to keep him healthy.

I'm sorry to hear about your son. Has he tried different medicines? You would think that as much medicine is out there that he could take one with out all of the nasty side effects. I think you should do what you feel is right as a parent. Mother's know best. I hope everything gets better for you. Have a great day.

Personally, dont believe in giving kids that young medication, if it could be helped. As a mother I would advise you to go with what God first gave you. Your maternal instincts. I did at one time and my 4 year old girl was cured of bronchitis(homemade recipe). Each individual child is special in his/her own way. So dont be embarassed by others comments. One can never go wrong with the use of herbal treatments and a good healthy diet. Lecithin is a good source of brain food. Fresh air, sunlight, exercise and faith in God. Hm, to me taking pills with side effects is like the figurative expression 'out of the frying pan and into the fire'. And he is only 8! What bout homeschooling? Do you believe in it? Is it possible for you? Also seeking another doctor's opinion may help.
