I do know exactly what you mean. On the other hand, that cork is SUCH a good example, because we don't drink either, but after I got on a cleaning rampage and threw the LAST cork away and then, as you say, needed one to cap off a partly used bottle of sparkling fruit juice, mother-became-the-necessity of learning that there is a better way to cap that stuff off than corks, yah see? Not the old white pump cap fizzy keepers that wear out after a few uses, but the lovely blue screw-on caps with a "ball" on top that you squeeze a few times. They don't fit on every bottle, so I bought some friends who DO drink a couple of flasks each of gin and vodka on the condition they save the bottles and give the empties back to me. They come in different heights and these screw-on fizzy caps fit them perfectly. Bummer, I should be writing this for AC or Helium instead of here, eh? I even have a 4 oz one! They are perfect for a little left over seltzer or Martinelli's. The point is, I'd still be using corks if I hadn't just dumped them all.
