about a month ago, a client of our branch went to our office regarding her loan with the bank. since i am the one incharge in our department, she wanted to see me personally, she pleaded and made promises that she will pay her loan with us but could we not in the name of humanity not foreclose their collateral. anyway, to make s ahort story short, i made an agreement with her. we will not foreclose the property but we are only going to hold the foreclosure for 30 days... she asked for a discount on her account which i granted. her deadline was nov. 30 and that day she came. with only part of the money, the reason is that the money was stuck in the atm machine. it has a limit for withdrawals for the day so she couldn't get the rest until 4 days later. to show good faith in paying, she offered to give me the atm card and the pin number so that i can withdraw the money from their account. in all honesty, i felt sorry for the woman because she was really afraid of losing her property. and no, i didn't take the atm card because it is really unethical to do such a thing. sometimes its hard to do jobs like mine. my colleagues say that i do not have to feel guilty because we are only doing a job. i mean most of the time it is really good because we help people get started with their businesses and farmers with their working capital with such low interest, but i can't help feel bad when things go sour and i have to foreclose. do you guys have a job like mine? how do you feel about it? (just to set things straight, our bank is a very good bank. foreclosing properties are our last resort into getting the investment back) anyway, i don't usually like long posts so tell me about it. thanks

Okay, so I'm assuming the ATM/debit account is at a different bank than yours, but why didn't she just write a check or get a cashiers check from her other bank? I'm thinking you don't require payments to be in cash, right? I can see why you would feel bad for this woman, but I think you did all you could and were very fair when you gave her the 30 day extension. I hope she is not trying to take advantage of your good nature. Although, from waht you describe, it sounds like she is just not good at managing money or doesn't have a lot of experience with banks. Hopefully, she will get her act together now that you have given her another chance.

ok. we live in a rural area. so most people here are farmers and the like. they are not really into checking accounts. and yes, it was from a different bank which of course do not have an outlet here so she couldn't make an over the counter withdrawal, only through accredited machines. anyway, she did come back after 4 days with the money. and yes, she did play the broken woman a bit, that i noticed. its just that sometimes i get to thinking what if that happens to me? i just hope that the person who would deal with me have the same good nature that i have!!! anyway, thanks for your comment. you are very just.
