I have always dreamed of being part of a school band... i wanted to play drums or the flute... unfortunately i never got a chance because my parents were kindda strict then. Practices were often held late afternoons until the evening or almost every Saturday which was in conflict with household chore schedule:-) And every time i see and hear marching bands or bands playing, i can't help but stop and listen, dreaming i'm part of the band.... So have you been part of a band? Which instrument do you play? Or are you like me who just dream about it? if given a chance, which instrument would like to play? Feel free to share...

Oh no, my friends play country music and they sometimes have a violin player or fiddle player in it it really gives something to the music.

I was in the band in my grade school...from 4th-8th grade, and I played the clarinet. Not the most exciting instrument, and honestly, I really wasn't all that into the band thing LOL...I didn't do it in high school, because my high school seemed rather obsessed with it, and you never get time off from it! I play piano and guitar now, and definitely enjoy it more doing it on my own.

I always wanted to play flute in my school's bad..!! None of my family memeber ever denied me either for going to my school band ..!! It was me..who got lazy to go ..!! And on top of that I never knew how to play the flute!! SO never cared to learn it to get my self to my school band..!! And I lasted marching in the parade instead of playing any instrument in the band .. :P I was much better in that ...parade !!! Most smartly paraded!! :)

I wanted a flute so bad when I was in high school, and my parents said they didn't have money to spend on such silly nonsense. The school did not require us to buy our instruments and the band instructor even wrote to my parents saying that I wouldn't have to pay any money. My parents said that was charity and that our family didn't accept charity. They weren't even nice about it. It was so hard. Even more than the flute I wanted to learn piano. So now that I'm retired and have a little time I bought a keyboard and am teaching myself. It would have been so much easier to have learned as a child. Neither of my parents played any instrument, and sometimes I think they were just jealous of the opportunities their children could have had that they didn't. But most parents want their kids to be better off. You can't win them all, I guess.

yeah, you can't win them all... but sometimes looking back i just regret that i was not given a chance... i tried to make good grades so that they'll let me in to the school band, but to no avail they never consented :-(

when i was in high school, i played French horn. That was fun, i can only played with simple scales. last year, i join a school band as a drumer. That was the most beautiful time in my colleage life. i love drum, love the strong rythems, from i was a very little girl. but i withdraw it this term. for many reason. including i know i can not go far with it. i m not that good at it,though friends told me it's far enough for a girl. and i got my life, a different life to live on. Anyway, that's a wonderful memory, isn't it? i'll preciate it for my whole life.

Actually we didn't get paid by the performance. And we have to compete with other bands to get the opportunities. Every show for us is precious. As our "head" said, our doing that is just for interest, not for showing off, and say nothing of money.

Well, I can play the piano, but I don't know if that would be instrumental in a band. Perhaps a jazz band, LOL. My sister though can play the piano and the flute. She is really good on both, and I love to hear her play the flute. She was in a choir band when she played the flute.

I did play the clarinet in the junior high school band but I gave it up before I got to high school. It was lots of fun but we had to practice early every morning during football season outside, to practice marching, and at that time I was getting throat and ear infections all the time so my mom decided I should quit. My older brother also played the clarinet in the high school and college bands and to this day he still plays the trumpet in bands near his home in New Jersey. I also took piano lessons for quite a few years as a child and I really loved that. I'm not sure if I could do either now, though, it's been so many years since I've tried it. Annie

I was in the band all through school. I played all of the low brass instruments. People usually freak out when I tell them I was the first chair tuba player! Marching band was a lot of fun, and you weren't considered a nerd when I was in school. Our band was over 300 people and our school was only about 1400. Large percentage! We also won a lot of competitions. It was hard work, but well worth it.

I played the clarinet but I would so play the drums if I could re do it. I love music so it's really hard to say for sure for sure what I would play. I would have loved to play the saxaphone, oboe, flue, pretty much anything but brass. I never really cared for the brass family that much.

i love the sounds of those instrument but i find it cool to play the drums.. though drums don't sound good alone, i 'm just amazed with how the drums bring the beating of the whole band's sound :-)
