Should doctors give reminder calls?

Do you think doctors should give reminder calls for appointments? I often make my kids' appointment 6 months or more in advance. And yeah...it'd be nice if every mother was June Cleaver and had everything in perfect order, but some of us can't keep a calendar to save our souls.
I especially get annoyed by it when I'm TOLD I'll receive a reminder call the day before. When I don't receive a call, I doesn't cross my mind. Again, I should remember...but considering how huffy doctors get when you miss an appointment, wouldn't it seem logical that they'd let you know, especially when they told you they would?

Ours does call and let me tell you, it's been great. I try to keep track of everything on my own but I'm not Superwoman either. I usually get the little cards they write the appointments on and stick them up on the refrigerator. It works as long as no one decides to move them and put them somewhere "safer". I would definitely not be happy if my doctor's office said they would call but didn't.

i don't do regular doctors appointments, so i never have to worry about this - yet anyway. but if they told you they would call and remind you it isn't your fault if you forgot and didn't come in to the appointment. i know that i'd write it down when i make an appointment, but that doesn't mean that however many months down the road i'd remember to look at my calendar to see what's going on that day.
