Do you buy postcards when you are on vacation and not mail them? I usually mail out a few, but then it seems I always have at least one or two left over. What about you? Do you buy them? If so, do you mail them? Do you always mail them all or do you have leftovers? What do you do with these leftovers?

When I travel somewhere I buy postcards, some to send to family and friends and some to keep in my postcard collection. I like to get cards all roughly the same size for my collection so I send the larger cards to people. In a country like Australia there is often some lovely designs of stamps to have on the cards sent home. I have some wooden boxes at home and each has postcards in. There is one for places in Europe, one for Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific Islands and another for other places in the world like the Americas and Asia.

Oh, yes. I love to go traveling. On the top shelf of may cabinet I have my travel photo albums and the front cover of each has a postcard on it. On the second shelf is my collection of costume dolls from around the world and on the bottom shelf I have the boxes of my postcard collection.

i've only ever once bought postcards that i can remember, and i didn't mail them out. i didn't intend to though. i bought a pack of them in the louvre in paris, france and i bought them because each one had a picture of a different work of art that's displayed in the louvre. i bought them to be kept as a souveiner.

That's a great idea to do in museums and such places that won't allow you to take photos inside. I wished I would have thought of that at my recent studio tour. Thanks for posting, and have a great day!

Good idea. I know a lot of times it is hard to get to the right spot to get the photo like one of the HOLLYWOOD sign on the hill in Hollywood. Thanks and have a great day!

Usually when I bought postcards to send I would be home before the people even received the postcards that I had mailed lol. I rarely travel and when we have traveled it has never been for very long. When I was a teenager I would just buy post cards of the places I went to and the things I saw. The pictures on there were much better then any of the ones I could have taken with my camera at that point so looking at the postcard photos reminded me of the beautiful things I have seen. I used to keep them in my photo album. I think I either sold my collection on ebay or gave it away I cant remember.

Thank you for your response in this discussion, Shaggin. That is a great idea to buy the postcards to keep in a photo album. I have kept quite a few myself through the years. My mother, sister and niece live in a different state than I, and I really enjoy sending them post cards from my little vacations. I also have a friend, who no matter where I go, if I ask him what he wants me to bring, he always just asks for a post card. And even though we live in the same city, we don't see each other every day. So, it's ok if I beat the post card home. LOL Thanks again for sharing and have a wonderful day!
