Have you ever found a stone that you lost?

Someone pointed out to me today that I was missing a stone in my ring. I was devastated. My sons bought me this ring with their birthstones in it - one diamond and one opal. The opal is the one that is gone. I'm pretty sure it was there this morning, but I really don't know. I've been retracing my steps and looking all over to try to find it. It's pretty small, so my chances of finding it are slim and none. I am hoping that it came off in some baggies we were stuffing this morning at one of my leads groups. I just wish the guy that has the bags would call me back and let me know.
What are my chances of finding this? I'm sure I'm just going to have to have it replaced, and it's not expensive enough to put a claim on my insurance. But I sure wasn't expecting to have to buy a gem right now.

Hey Dawn,
That would be nice to find it, but I'm thinking it might be too small like you said. It could be anywhere really. So sorry to hear that though!
I lost a diamond in one of the rings hubby bought me, luckily I had bought the insurance with Kay's and they replaced it for free. It was sort of big, there was a big whole where it used to be lol but I had just come from the store and had bumped my hand getting things out ot the cart so I think that's where I lost it. No telling though, now I have a habit of checking my rings often. lol

I used to ALWAYS take that ring off - just so nothing would happen to it. I'd put it on when I left the house and take it off when I got home. Lately, I was wearing it all the time. When I get it back in a couple weeks, I'm going to take it off when I'm home. Of course I probably lost the stone while I was out, but I think it will be protected more if it's not on!

I've made a habit to take mine off when I go to bed, hubby will remind me if I don't. My hands swell up too much and they are so tight when I do sleep in them. Also I don't really wear them unless I'm going somewhere. Then as soon as I get home, I take them back off usually. lol Funny habit to have I guess. I used to never take my jewelry off, stayed on 24/7. lol

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I know how it is to lose a stone out of a ring. I have lost two opals. The opals where from two opal rings. I have not replaced them yet.
You might go to Jewlery TV network on the net and see if you can replace the stone there. It might be cheeper there.
Good luck

One of my clients owns a jewelery store, he'll most likely give me the stone for cost and replace it for free. I trust him and know that I'll get something nice. It just wont be the "same" stone that has represented my youngest son for the past 6 or 7 years. I do keep looking when I'm walking around the house and all.

I have a tiny 14KT gold pinky ring that I have had for ages and it tends to fall off now and then. I don't want it resized b/c my fingers tend to sell but I've lost it a couple of times and luckly managed to find it again so now I wear it on my chain with my cross. That way I know I won't lose it.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

I'm so glad you've been able to find it all the time. That's cool! I've about given up hope though.

For my sixteenth birthday my step mom got me an opal ring. It was so beautiful. And I was wrestling around with my sisters and noticed that the opal was gone! Devistation set in and we never found it. I still have the band and hope to replace it one day. I just don't know where I would go to buy an opal.

I have a friend that's a jeweler, so I'll be going to see him probably Saturday. I just wish we could have found it and used the same one.
