Why don't they claim their money!! It is Free!!!

I just read on Yahoo News that "about $570 million in lottery prizes went unclaimed last year, according to a USA Today Analysis of lottery data." http://usaatoday.com/news/nation/2007-12-07-05-lottery_N.htm NY has $73.6 million Texas has $58.9 million Florida has $48.4 million Ohio has $33.4 million Calif has $29.4 million Illinois has $11.7 million is one ticket itself all unclaimed from 2007. In 2002 a Powerball ticket in Indiana was worth $51.7 million was unclaimed. This year a $31 million Mega Millions ticket is still unclaimed in Queens, NY. Why dont' people pay attention to what they do?! Especially if it might lead to a ton of money!!! They buy the ticket, why do the loose it! Why is that not something one would be sure to find a secure place (Magnet on the fridge is the best place!) to keep that ticket and then follow up and watch the show or find out the wining number in the newspaper. Help me here, I don't understand how people can "forget" something like this. Why bother to buy if you aren't going to collect!
