Too Much Education

I know a few people that can't seem to get enough education. They spend so much time trying to decide where to attend school to further their education. I'm a firm believer that a person can never learn enough. Do you know anyone personally who is educated and obsessed with learning to the point it effects their personal and social life?

Well, personally, I don't think anyone can have "too much education." Knowledge is power after all. I don't know them personally, but a friend of a friend of mine is obsessed with learning. They keep going to university or college every couple years to earn a degree or diploma, it's kind of strange. I think they have about ten or so now? I think I kind of agree. There's no such thing as "too much learning" but when it starts affecting your personal life, they have to take it easy. Especially since university and college tuitions aren't cheap. So really, I think it depends on their motive, if they're learning just for the sake of learning instead of actually applying it, I think they're wasting their time and money.

My husband is one of them he has 2 university diplomas one was done before we met and he was in the last year when we met. When he came to Australia his Engilsh was really bad so he went to school for 3 years to learn English. He used to come home from school eat and go to work we almost had no time together and my son was nising his father a lot. I told him last year that he was finished with school as I could not take it any more. He also goes to a lot of short curses which its ok as they are 1 a week or so and they help him a lot for work.

Education is great unless it interrupts the family situation on a regular basis. On the other hand, I respect anyone with knowledge. Don't blame you for putting the "clamps" on your husband's learning. Thanks for responding.

Today people seem to think studying perpetually is the way to go-in my country, unemployment is rife, but the umemployed around now believe, the easiest way to get a job is to read and read -sadly, they are getting more frustrated because I know of a friend of mine who has a Masters but still cannot be employed-this makes studying emdlessly with the hope of getting a job very meaningless, and it instead affects the social and personal lives of those concerned.

I agree. Although I believe learning is the best experience possible today, there comes a time when earning money is just as important. Maybe I have a weird attitude about it but think it's pretty logical. Thanks for responding.

i still at study now although i have my high education . i think knowledge is power ,the knowledge when i was a bachelor is not enough .i need further education for the job . i have learned from university couldnt satify for my job completely . more important , if i wanna promotion, i must have high diploma. so i must have my master and doctor degree. so , to much education is double -edged sword .

My grandma lives in text books. She's got so many credits ect she can't possibly remember everything she's learned. She has no common sence and is a laugh riot to be around but it's what makes her so great.

Sounds like grandma is a hoot. I know people who are terribly book smart but not real bright in the common sense department. Thanks for responding.
