If so, do you think it results in a better payout? I've been submitting all my articles with some sort of photo, that I've personally taken in order to avoid any issues with copyright infringement, but that's sometimes a challenge for me. I mean it's not easy to take a photo that relates to just anything I might want to write about.

I don't think it makes a difference. I like to include photos but my payment doesn't seem to change. For example, I've spent a lot of time picking photos from my vacation for some articles. I picked things that were directly explained in the article, and I thought it made the whole thing worth more. Turned out they offered me less than expected.
Worst is when it is published and some pics are removed for apparantly no reason :(

It is not copyright infrigement to post a picture you own and you don't need somebody's permission to be posted, though it was not taken by yourself. I posted a few of my own pictures, it was a small difference in earnings, but the most is being earned by comments and articles we write.

I never submit images with my work (it seems like it would be too hard for the series I have been working on...and if it takes a lot of work it isn't worth it). I have gotten paid $4-7.20 an article, which I have been told is decent to good for AC...
