In my view, anger has a devastating view on our health, whether we use it to lash out at others or keep in boiling somewhere deep inside our selves. It puts us in a constant state of stress and turmoil, which interferes with breathing and the digestion and causes all sorts of illness.
If anger builds up, one has to release it and it is OK to fume privately, I think, but very destructive to whine excessively around others. Yes, I think whining is a passive form of anger.
Fear and Anger are twins, I think, and you cannot have one without the other. That is why sometimes the strongest people have the strongest anger, because, in truth, they are most afraid...afraid of losing the love of the people they hurt, afraid of being seen as weak, and the list goes on.
What is the solution? Many say learn to be calm, but first I say EXERCISE! Because when we exercise that releases some of the harmful built-up chemicals and makes us breathe better. Then, learn to breathe right, because it is hard to be other than calm when breathing slowly and deliberately from deep within instead of just sucking air from the top of one's chest (shallow breathing). After that, one can think about where the anger came from and what life goal is in jeopardy and then take positive steps toward correcting the situation from which that anger arose.
It is not enough to say Anger is Bad or Calm Down. The fear has to be taken away first, I think. Good discussion, Cen!

It depends on how you express it or don't express it.If you hold all your anger inside it could cause ulcers. But if you have a Real bad temper, you could hurt someone or yourself with your tirades.
I remember a while back a NFL coach had a heart attack and his doctor said that he should yell when he was anger because it was better for him to express his anger than keep it inside.

Hello there. If I am not wrong, Anger raises the blood pressure and heightened blood pressure can cause heart attack and stroke. Of course, anger is not the only factor that causes high blood pressure. Stress level and diet rich in sodium also cause high blood pressure. It's important for us to lead a happy life with positive outlook and balanced diet. Hopefully this will help to prolong our lives. =D

Anger causes your blood pressure to go up. If it goes too high, you are at high risk of things like heart attack or stroke. It is better to be a happy person and walk away from situations where you could get angry.

..once in our life, we encounter changes. and psychology says, these changes give impact on us. it makes ourself respond to this stimulus.
and so far, i would comment on you that anger affects our health greatly. proofs? heart attack is very common to those with great anger. anger arouses inside our body that makes our emotion rage. therefore, being anger all the times can be dangerous to us not only mentally but also physically. doctors say that you have more chances on acquiring heart diseases and other body disorders if you are always angry, and know this one tricky fact? when we frown, we use for ABOUT 17 muscles of our face and when we smile we only use ABOUT 13. this is the explanation why angry people look older than jolly people.
so from now, start with a smile. c:

Anger is something that takes away you ability and control of thinking wisely. The more angry you are the more dangerous is your reaction. Getting angry is one of the natural quality of human beings, but having control on your anger is in your own hands..........It is obvious that getting angry is not good for health as our blood pressure, our heart beat and our control everything is distrub........Some people have very good control, they never get angry which makes others angry.......lol. I have read that yoga and meditation does help us to control our anger. If you ask me, I am very short tempered and get angry very soon.......but also I cool down quickly and then I apologize.........Well, I think we cannot change oursleves.....anger is part of life and we have to accept it with all its drawback and hazards on our health.

Anger does a lot of bad things in life. Just months ago I have a big fight with the family of my husband. That is one of the worst thing that happened to me and even now I can still remember it and I can feel anger for what they did to me. I even have a heart problem after the long fight. But I know or we know that we should not let it ruin our life. Now, I exercise and eat healthy so I can cope up with this stress.

Hi Mahesh! Everyone gets angry. Maybe you "lose your cool" or "hit the roof". Anger is known as one of the seven deadly sins according to religion.Anger is a completely normal, usually healthy, human emotion. But when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems—problems at work, in your personal relationships, and in the overall quality of your life. And it can make you feel as though you're at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful emotion.Anger is a very powerful emotion that can stem from feelings of frustration, hurt, annoyance, or disappointment. It is a normal human emotion that can range from slight irritation to strong rage. Most people feel that anger or hostility leads to physical problems, especially if it is suppressed. Anger is both a physiological (body) and psychological (mind) process. Because of this, anger can have a negative impact on your physical and your emotional health. This is particularly true of the relationship between anger and heart disease. High blood pressure (Hypertension) can also result from anger.Chronic (long-term) anger has been also linked to headaches, skin disorders and digestive problems. In addition, anger can be linked to problems such as crime, emotional and physical abuse, and other violent behavior.Anger can also be an underlying cause of mental health issues. So I would conclude saying that one should not allow an emotion like anger to overpower us and say things which we may regret later. We can't take back the words we have uttered , can we?

I find that the result, healthwise, is more pronounced in the person the anger is directed toward... getting angry has its own set of issues, but if, for example, a person has to spend most of their time with a continually angry spouse, the stress of it shows in their actions, their voice, their appearance... and their immune system. They literally can't fight back in any way.
Anger is a hideous thing that human beings should be able to control and channel, NOT direct at other human beings!
