Almost every rapper has front teeth that have been done over in silver, some have even gone so far as to put gold front teeth and some with all their front teeth done in silver.I think its freaky and wonder why they even do this. There is a man(passed away now)who has a picture of himself and had his front teeth done in gold,he was the previous owner of wood mill here.I saw his picture and wow,did his teeth stand out!?Another way of showing off money.hahaha!!What do you think of this bizzare thing?

Dentists have used gold for filling cavities , for crowns, and for other purposes. Gold is malleable, nearly immune to corrosion, and hard enough to form a biting surface that can be used for years. Some used it as a status symbol too.I think that this practice is not a fad anymore .

In the 50s and 60s even the commoners used to have good tooth. It is not in vogue anymore.Even my aunts Dad from Burma was having one.

I think that looks a bit ridiculous. I like to have my own look as well. Some of them look as if they have a tin can in their mouth or braces. All those years people didnt like the metal mouth thing(braces). Now they have their teeth fully covered. I guess as long as it is expressing a person's originality, then so be it. I dont care what a person wears as long as they carry themselves in a mature, respectful, polite, and intelligent manner. As long as I dont have to wear them then go for it! I could see wearing one tooth but a whole mouth full seems as if youre hiding something.

I agree with you. Those guys look silly. I do know that they make the "grills" removable. I think most of those have that done permanently! They grind down your teeth which leads to early tooth decay and tooth loss. Even worse than the silver is the gold with the diamonds in it. I really don't get that culture at all.

i think it is a street cred message of wealth and power. " watch me, im full of money, so much i can afford to make myself look like a plonker!" i have a mouthful of green teeth so that people know i love the planet!

LOL! what an excellent call! I love it =) And such a true comment in every way. It's not about whether it's actually cool or not, it's just symbolic of all their money, and the lack of ability they have to spend it wisely.

I think it looks a little ridiculous and a waste of money. I remember my 7 year old (5 at the time)one time took the silver wrapper off a piece of chewing gum and wrapped it around his teeth and smiled huge at me and said, "Mommy check out my grill." It was cute.

I think it's gross. I've had customers come in with a mouth full of silver or gold and they can't hardly talk for it. It's nasty and not cool in anyway. Theres so much better things to spend money on.

You are talking about methmouth, and there is hardly a more declasse way of showing off one's ill-gotten gains than to flash a grill, as they are called. Here is a photo in case anyone has never seen one up close: http://blogs.kansascity.com/crime_scene/2006/04/new_in_war_on_d.html We got a few of those in the college classes hubby and I used to teach and as soon as these guys first flashed their toothless but shiny grins we knew we were in for absenteeism and/or behaviorial problems. Most of them dropped out well before the semester's end, as they were flying too high to possibly do any work.

The first thought that comes to my mind: "are those for real??" if they are, they are a total waste of money. People in this world try real hard to keep they're teeth nice, clean and healthy... but what do they do? they cover it with things that aren't supposed to be kept in people's mouths. it's a ridiculous way to show off whatever it is they're trying to show off.
