Hello seared! I am a filipino and in our country, we celebrates christmas. When the christmas is getting near, we decorate our homes and even offices where we work with colorful christmas decors like Christmas tree with ligts, belen (miniature of Joseph, mary and jesus in the manger), parol (a decorated handmade star that resembles the guiding star of the three kings when they searched for the new born Jesus) and many other colorful stuffs..
then as part of the christmas preparations, we have the nine mornings or what we call the "Simbang Gabi". this is nine days before christmas, we go to church every day at 4 am in the morning to attend mass and offer our prayers to God.
Then on christmas eve, we have the "noche buena". we gather around the table and share the delicious food prepared. and then when the christmas begins, those who can afford will have some fire works in their place... and for those who cant, will go outside our home and see the beautiful fire works. we also have gift giving or exchanging of gifts..
Christmas celebration is part of us filipinos.. and we celebrated it every year..

Hello dear seared. Nowadays with the great influence from the western world, more and more western cultures and customs are introduced into China, due to the open policy to the outside world ever since the early eighties. So I think that it is very normal for city people to also celebrate Christmas. Thanks for your discussion.

I live in Canada and we celebrate Christmas. While it has become a secular holiday most people remember why Christmas started. It was to remember the birth of Christ. Nowadays we get together with family and friends with lots of food and gifts,in particular for the children. We also try and do something nice for food banks and sponsor dinners for people who are homeless or poor. Many people volunteer at places that serve dinners for the underprivileged or pack little gifts for them such as toothbrushes, soap and other items. A lot of people also go to church on Christmas Eve. In particular they celebrate Midnight Mass.
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it!

Oh yes, it is the grandest of all holidays here in the Philippines. It's a wonderful time when there are lots of parties and gift giving. It's really heartwarming when I see or hear about people sharing their blessings with less fortunate ones.
I'm glad China is getting in on the Christmas spirit.

I live in Australia and love christmas! I love how families get together and the food you eat and all the festivities. I could not imagine a life without christmas. However my boyfriend doesn't like christmas because he is an athiest (is anti religion). I think who cares. christmas is about family and giving.
