Christmas trees on University Campus

Here where I live they took the Christmas tree down on our University Campus cause it might offend someone from another culture. I feel that if they come here for us to teach them then we should be allowed to decorate however we want to. I want to know what you think about changing our holidays for others?

I feel strongly that we should be free to put up Christmas trees for Christmas as well as Christian symbols like crosses, crib etc. Why ever not? It seems a bit mad to have to remove them. Why would someone be offended by these things? The only reason I can think that they might be offended is if they are (a) crazy or (b) a member of a religion which preaches zero tolerance for other religions.

What I was taught was that we live in the land of the free. And I thought we had freedom of speach, but you know what we dont. We are told what to say and what to do. If I want to put up a christmas tree or hang lights or shoot fireworks or anything like that I'm going to and if you don't like it turn your head and don't look.

This is so sad, EEYORE35. Why does a Christmas tree create an offense to someone from another culture? I just don't get it! A Christmas tree is not a lively creature. It can't do anything to other people. In my opinion, people should be able to enjoy Christmas. The university campus can also accommodate other decorations for different beliefs when their holidays are going to come.

I think we should respect all faiths, regardless of our individual opinions. As a Christian, I certainly wouldn't be offended if my neighbor put a Menorah in his yard or one was displayed in front of a public building. I think a few narrow-minded people are ruining the season for everyone else.

I agree with you people can't wait to come to America and as soon as they get here then they want to change our culture I don't think we should have to change anything.What about the people that want that tree up, Don't they have rights? I love Christmas and it really makes me mad when we have to change everything we have always known for a handful of people, Do you know I heard on the radio a few days ago that they want santa to be skinny! Have you have heard of such garbage? Well I better quit I am getting pretty ralled up. If they don't like our way of life GO HOME is what I say.
