How Many Churches Are Within A Couple Of Miles From Your Home?

Just an interesting kind of survey here. How many churches are within actual walking distance, or a ten minute drive, from where you live? Have you ever visited? Was your experience a good one or otherwise? There are so many churches I would think or hope there would be one that "fits" each kind of person. It's just a thought.

have to admit that I don,t even know where the churches are in my town. I move in in april and since I don,t go to church I didnt bother looking where they are. But In the town where I grow up, I almost know where all the churches are.

I guess church buildings sometimes becomes a part of the scenery. It's sad but true, people don't notice them, or something like that. You'll come to see where they are now though. :) How many churches were in the town where you grew up?

I live in the middle of nowhere in the woods & yet there are 6 nearby. Around here in the bible belt if you go into town you can't throw a rock without hitting a stained glass window. I wonder how they think we need so many. You don't need 4 churches capable of seating over 100 people each in a neighborhood with less than 100 people, Especially when you can go to mainstreet & find several capable of seating the entire counties population. Heck there's one thats so big most of the state could find seating in part of its complex. NON PROFIT MY ARSH!

I believe that there are 11 within walking distance, though I'm pretty sure that I'm forgetting a few. We've only visited three of them. There are many other churches within a 10 mile drive, I would guess at least 30. Even thought there are many churches near us, we travel about 25 miles to church.

Two that I can think of. One is the one I went to growing up. I stopped going there after I got confirmed as I didn't like the pastor. The other one is the one my parents actually go to. I think that if you are looking for a church, you'll find one for you. I don't think one "fits" all people because not all people want a church and churches are there for people who want them... and need them. Actually now that I think of it there is at least one other church that I know of in my area. I've never been there. Just pass it on my way to my credit union.

Hey there Raychill. I hope you can find a church where you will like the pastor. You're right though, churches are different in many ways and if you're looking you shall find. Never will one church "fit" all people's needs. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy what's left of the weekend and stay warm.

LOL considering where I do live there actually isnt ANYTHING within walking distance or a 10 min drive ;-) In the surrounding villages though (each of which are about 15+ mins drive time) there are a few churches..quite a few come to think of it...I mean the two larger 'villages' each have populations of 5500-6000 ppl and both have probably 8+ churches

I don't have any churches near my home, well at least none that are within walking distance. However there are 2 that are within a ten minute drive (at 55mph). I've never been to either, as neither my husband or I are religious.

Hello dear gtargirl. There is a big church in my town, which was built in 1999. I went there when the ribbon-cutting ceremony was held that day and I stayed a few hours in the church. It is about ten miniutes ride to get there.

I live in the middle of nowhere so, there aren't any churches close to me. The closest church is 23 miles away. We do however have bible study right here in the neighborhood. I go to it often. It's mostly retired people and I love it. Older people are so cool to listen to. They have the best stories!

We have one church in our area which is about 3 blocks from our house. Another one is located about 9 blocks from our house. Both churches are on one of the main streets through our area. I've never visited either of them.

It depends on what time of year. We have one church at the end of our block, the one I go to, and there are two other churches about a mile or so away, one is a Roman Catholic Church and one is a Christian Reformed. Most of the churches are in the other part of the city and there are two megachurches about two or three or more miles away. I like my church, my experiences have been quite good. I do not think churches have to fit the person, I believe the person has to fit the church. In other words, if you go to church, you cannot change its doctrine to fit you. My church is a Reformed church and follows the Bible and the doctrine of the New Testament as preached by Paul the Apostle.

It seems like there is one on every corner here. We have one house in between our house and the church we go to. In our state 61% of us are the same religon so there are alot of chappels around. There are many other religions mixed in too so churches are all over the place.

I would guess hundreds I would probably attend a Unitarian one I like to sleep late on Sundays though And I don't like to hear too much about God it tends to make me lean more toward atheism when I do usually

There are quite a few chapels on the military base. Not to mention as I drive into town, there are several churches on both sides of the roads and it doesn't matter what road you are on. North Carolina is part of what we call The Bible Belt, so it's pretty steeped in religion.
