Have you ever given something you got for free away as a gift?

Freebie Christmas gift? - presents

I got a dreamcatcher key chain in the mail yesterday and since I'm of Indian descent my whole family loves them and most of them have quite a few of them around our apartments. I do also have one on my keychain that I bought on one of my gambling excursions last year. Since I know my daughter in CA doesn't have any at all but she does like them I was thinking about sending it to her with her Christmas presents but have been thinking twice because it's not something I bought for her. I was thinking of putting a note with it telling her that it was sent to me from the Lakota Children who I donate to a couple of times a year so she would know that it was made by them. Have you ever given something you got for free to someoene as a gift? Do you see anything wrong with it?

I have received things as free gifts and have given them away to my neighbours like tote bags or keyrings and such. I just give it to them not wrapped up or anything but I can't see any harm in it.

I do that all the time. Mostly I fill out sweepstakes and so I get little stuff like that all the time. I have also given things I've gotton at rummage sales for only 50 cents. Just because it's cheap or free doesn't mean you can't give it as a gift. Christmas is getting so expensive that I need all the help I can get.

kindof sortof I just traded in 13500 mypoints points for a $100 sears card which I combined with my own money to purchase my husband a $170 tool that we would have never spent the money on otherwise I traded 3500 twice for dept. store gift certificates others in my family would utilize It is free, but I did make efforts to earn the points - so not sure if it qualifies for your question or not. It sure helped with Christmas Shopping though!

Hehe..too bad you didn't know this, but I make dreamcatchers myself..LOL I see nothing wrong with giving away something as a gift that you got for free. Heck...haven't you ever given something as a gift to someone that was given to you as a gift and can't really use or want? So that all the time..

I have never given away something that was a gift to me from a friend or relative, but since this key chain wasn't a personal gift that someone close to you gave you so I don't see anything wrong in giving it to someone, it is yours and you can do whatever you want to with it. Also, if you are going to send a note with it telling her who made it, and that you are giving it to her because you know she really wants one then that is fine too.

Oh yes i think i have , i remember a watch that was given to me and i gave it to my nephew, there is nothing wrong with doing that.If you want her to know that it came from the Lakota children you can tell her, i am sure that she would be happy to get it.It does not matter if you actually bought it or not,it was probably bought from money that you have donated anyway. If you were my Mom i would be happy to get it.One of my best gifts was given to me by my mom,she was in rehab for her illness and she went to bingo and won a pin and she gave it to me, i felt so special because she chose to give it to me...

I don't see anything wrong with giving something to someone that was a gift to you, ctry. I have done it myself before. I used to get a lot of free gifts from different places that I ordered from. Most of these things I knew I would never use, so I saw no harm in passing them along to someone else. I also have one of those Lakota keyrings that I received last year. I did not give it away since I sort of collect them.

Probably. If you got it for free and have no plans or intention of using it yourself why in the heck would you keep it if someone else could really use it? I see no point in keeping something you aren't gonna use. So it's fine to give it away... but I wouldn't do it as a special occasion gift. I do think that is wrong. But a "just because" gift is fine.

Yes, I have given gifts that I've gotten from someone. I don't entirely see it wrong. If you are not making use of the gift and you know someone who might like it, I can think of giving it away. It will depend if you will tell that person or not. I don't think you need to feel bad about giving the gift to your daughter because one, you said that it's from the children whom you donate to. It started from you that these children were able to make something and the token is an appreciation in return. It's a form of love that you can give to your daughter that you may have not been the one who made it from scratch but you contributed to something. It would be nice to inform your daughter about it so she'll know that the Lakota Children are happy of what you do for them. I'm sure she'll appreciate the fact that you are doing something for good cause.

If you have no use for it, then there should be no problem with giving it to someone who will use/enjoy it. I have done it just because I like to give things that I know someone will like and will use/enjoy. It doesn't matter where the item came from. It is, as they say, "the thought that counts". Smile!!
