He has a herniated cervical disc at C7. It's causing pressure on a nerve and that causes pain in his right shoulder and down his arm to the elbow. Plus he is experienceing intermittent numbness in his index and middle finger. He has had an MRI and has been to physical therapy, and has been taking pain pills for a month now. He is so ready to have this done.
This will be like the 8th surgery he has had in his lifetime. The surgeon is going to clean out the area between c6 and c7 and then they will use a cadaver bone as a spacer and put in a tiny metal plate and 4 screws. We found out recently one of his co-workers wives has had the same surgery 6 years ago so we talked with her. She is fine and highly recommends he go ahead with the surgery.
I hate the surgery days. I worry so during the surgery untill I see him again and know that he is ok. Your prayers for the surgeons hands to be steady and for healing are welcome and appreciated.

Sorry to hear that. I will include him in my prayers. I know he can make it as it is his ninth surgical operation. What stamina he has. Dont you worry, he will be alright. Give him a tight embrace before going to the operation room. Happy Holidays to you, your husband and the whole family.

Hi Tess, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Your hubby will do just fine. I know any surgery is a worry, but medicine has come a long way. If he is anything like my hubby he will come out fighting fit. Recovery will take time but the surgery is well worth it. I can add him to my healing list if you would like.

It's very understandable for you to be nervous. Surgery is a BIG deal, no matter what it is for. I hope your husband feels a lot better afterwards. That can be quite painful to live with. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.. good luck.
