If you could choose any sort of holiday home what would it be? A thatched beach hut A apartment with a sea view A wooden cabin up in the mountains A moored sailing boat A room in a old castle A camper van that can go anywhere you like A tent for a nomadic way of life Any other ideas?

My ideal holiday home would be a farmhouse with a large wrap around porch and a room in the front to display the tree. It would have a fireplace where company can come and get warm and be together..

That sound like a lovely and comfortable option. A fire place would add warmth and charm to it. When I was in Samoa I visited Robert Louis Stevenson's house. Even though he lived in a hot county the house had fireplaces to remind him of his homeland. That was Scotland.

Yes, it is nice to make friends with you. In China a holiday home by the coast would be lovely I think or a little home in the countryside. Which would you prefer?

I would choose a camper van. Well, a caravan with a toilet to be honest. This is what my husband & I intend doing in two years time. We will purchase a decent caravan, with an outside awning that completely closes. Initially we will be able to only go on short trips, until the children are older. When my hubby retires, we are going on lots of holidays, anywhere in Australia that we feel like.

It is a fantastic idea to get a caravan because Australia is such a huge country with lots of beautiful places to go. I think that your children would feel comfortable having room for as many toys as they like. They would learn about cities, the countryside and the wildlife that you would see. Good luck doing this in two years time jennybianca.

A sea view would be perfect I think. I would also adore to have a little thatched beach hut. An apartment or condo with every luxury would make a delightful holiday home.

The idea of a sea view seems quite popular. A camper van is an excellent idea fort you could go anywhere that you like. I hope that you get a holiday soon that you will really enjoy.

I like to go camping so I would make my home a camper. We have a camper that slides onto the back of our truck and we have actually lived in it for 18 months. It was the happiest time of my life. I know tha may sound weird, but the stress of owning our own house was not there, We lived in a city that the winters were mild and so it was possible to do. We, my hubby and I, got along better because it wa almost like being on a holiday all the time. I would give almost anything to go back to that life. But we now live in a city that the winters are so cold it would not be possible to live in it in the winter. My wish is to move back there and live in the camper again. To sit out by the fire every evening, to play cards together, to watching TV all cuddled up together. ALl the little simple things in life.

Thanks for your excellent response. Living in a camper van for eighteen months must have been fantastic. Yes, in a mild climate that sort of lifestyle is very relaxing. But in a harsh winter it would be miserable and uncomfortable. The simple things in life mean a lot hey.

At first I thought of my wolfiemobile remember that discussion LOL! Can you imagine me driving around in it with a big picture of a wolf on the outside, that would get people looking! But then again I like my home comforts and a nice bed too much so I would like a thatched beach hut but it must have a nice bed in it! By the warm sea, perhaps on an island, I can still be nomadic on my own beach on my own island! I conjure up pictures of The Beach now! I love that film! Although I am not very handy at building things, so it would have to be already constructed LOL!

Oh yes, I thought the idea of your Wolfiemobile was excellent. I can imagine you driving around it and everyone smiling at the superb wolf picture on it. When I was in Samoa I dreamed about getting a beach fale. That is a thatched hut on stilts. It is open so you can hear the sea splashing against the shore and feel the light coastal breeze. I would love to have my own island. The Beach, that is a wonderful film. I would like a tree house with a superb view of a tropical beach with waving palm trees.

A wooden cabin up in the mountains is something I've always wanted to try! I'm from Australia so I'm thinking a wood cabin somewhere in America (maybe Colorado?) with the snow lightly falling outside and a log fire inside, complete with a big fluffy rug to ah.... sit on and watch the fire! :-p

Oh I would love the cabin in the woods or mountains. That is my dream home. I want a cabin with a stream. I want to heat and cook with wood. I want a big garden and my own orchard. I want to be snowed in every Christmas where we can sit by the fire and string popcorn and cranberries.

A cabin sounds like a great holiday home. You could eat the fruit from your own orchard. It would be lovely to cook on a wood fire. A burning fire would give the place warmth that would be needed with all the crisp snow on the ground.

Hello dear maximax. I think that I would choose to live in an apsrtment with a sea view as I think that an apartment is stronger than a wooden one and I feel safer living in it. It would be nice to have a holiday home near the sea so that I would be able to enjoy more of the sea view every day. Thanks very much for your discussion, dear friend.

My holiday home would be a nice house facing the sea, but still has a Greek-styled indoor/outdoor swimming pool... I also don't mind an apartment with a seaview with a jacuzzi at the rooftop...:D

I like the traditional looking Greek home. It has a lovely style. Having both an indoor swimming pool and an outdoor swimming pool would be wonderful in any sort of weather. A jacuzzi on the roof top sounds delightful too.

Welcome to My Lot. That sounds like a really beautiful holiday home. I am sure that around the mountains would be a stunning landscape of green pastures and the stream gently running by would be quite a relaxing sound to hear. You would lead a stress free lifestyle with your creativity in painting and writing.
