Would you like a piece of toast?

Growing up I thought my Scottish uncle had lost his mind. He would take his toast from the toaster and put it into a holder until it was stone cold. Then he would put on butter and a topping. Then enter my Australian hubby who likes his toast cold too and he puts that horrible Vegemite on it too. I guess it is what you do in those strange countries. I like my toast warm and my butter melted and topped with peanut butter. I think Marmalade is over rated and only use jam when Peanut butter is not available. Am I a toast snob? How do you like your toast?

I'm not a big toast fan, but when I do eat it I want it hot. I like it with butter and orange marmalade or cinnamon sugar. Maybe blueberry jelly - but mostly just with plain old butter.

I like it with cinnamon and sugar sometimes too. I also like to put a piece of cheese on bread and stick it in the oven for a little bit so the cheese melts and the bread is crunchy.

I love toast - cinnamon toast, toast with peanut butter, a good jam. It is a quick breakfast. We used to put butter and powdered sugar on it, but had to be hot when you ate it. I remember my grandpa always dipped his in his coffee.

I like mine warm with melted butter and Marmite (Vegemite is very second-rate compared to Marmite!). Occasionally I will have marmalade and often I just have toast and butter. Crumpets are another favorite. They have to be hot so the butter melts into the holes. They are best just with a sprinkle of ground pepper.

I knew you had to be English as soon as you said Marmite was superior to Vegemite. My Aussie says Marmite is second to Vegemite, I think they both taste like sh*t! I love crumpets and have never tried them with butter and pepper I think that sounds pretty good. I like honey melted on my crumpets!

I discovered recently that Trader Joe's stock crumpets. I don't know if you have Trader Joe where you are - I believe they are a West coast store. Another excellent thing for crumpets is cheese (cheddar or something like that) gently melted into the holes.

And for the flippin life of me I CANNOT find them anywhere around here (I live in Western NY)..next time I'm back home visiting (Canada) I'll be picking up some to bring home LOL (along with a few other things you can't find here :-/)

I only do this once or twice a year...I spread honey roasted peanut butter on toast right out of the toaster, nice and hot and then top it with cherry preserves. I know, I know..how fattening is that! But wow is it good.

It does sound really good to me, most fattening things do! The things I like are either fattening, illegal or immoral...

I hate melted butter so I always let my toast go cold too! It's yummy! I know a lot of people think I'm odd for doing it though. I also like Marmite (a lot like Vegemite) and peanut butter!

Nope, just salt. Isn't it odd that melted butter tastes so different to unmelted?!

My friend bought popcorn at the movies the other night without butter and I gave her a strange look, I guess you aren't alone...

I read somewhere that agreement does not make for a good discussion, but oh well, I too am a toast snob. I don't use marmalade at all, but I do like a little honey swirled into my peanut butter. And I like the butter to be dripping... I passionately believe in doing whatever gives you pleasure!

I like my toast warm with butter on it or peanut butter and jelly. I dont like cold toast. I have seen other people do it and when I was younger I went on trips with our church and we stayed at other peoples house and they sat a plate full of toast down and it was all cold. I did not eat any.

I take my toast out of the toaster and put butter and grape jelly on it. Sometimes I take it out of the toaster and put peanut butter on it. I like it when the toast is so warm that it kinda melts my peanut butter just a little. I don't wait until my toast is cool because I like to eat it when it's still warm.

That'll be fine. I like anything as my breakfast because it is one of the important meal in a whole day. And a toast is fast and convenient.

I only eat my toast cold if the butter was melted on while the bread was still warm. Sometimes I eat butter only. If I top it with something else it is butter and grape jam. I don't put butter on if I am using peanut butter. When I was a kid, I would melt the butter on, them dump sugar all over it. It tasted good, but thinking about it now makes my teeth hurt!
