Wow Jaime. This is a hard one....You could move back home, that would be a great gift ;) Maybe a weekend getaway somewhere if you come up. Spa weekend, pampering? Are you coming home for Christmas?

Maybe you can take their wedding picture, or some other special older picture of those two together and get it retouched and reworked to make it look young again. It would be a nice touch, especially since the loss of her husband. I think she'd really appreciate it. If you didn't just want to do one, you could retouch a few special photos and put them in really nice frames for her to put up around the house.

I know, it's always a touchy subject. It may upset her, but I think she'd be touched that you did something sweet for her too.

I could definitely look into doing retouching and matting a picture. I want so much to make her feel good, make her smile and have something to make her feel good.
I'm just afraid anything I do will bring the pain to the surface again :( I didn't get a manual on what you're supposed to do in these type of awful situations...I feel so helpless.

Since scrapbooking with pictures and certain memorabilia takes time to gather, this might be something she would cherish and it only takes a few minutes every day.
Buy a very inexpensive notebook, lined or unlined, and starting the day you buy it till the morning of xmas write a short note of gratitude as if it were coming from your dad through you as a remembrance of their wonderful life together when you became a part of it . . .
Create from the heart, decorate it, present it to her on Christmas morning for her to cherish for many years to come.
sharing the light and happy holidays,

Sorry for the loss of your father. My condolences to you. I don't know what your money situation is but maybe a not to expensive locket with his picture in it that she can hold close to her heart?

My first thought was a scrapbook too. But if you could come up with 1 pic before Christmas you could enlarge it to 5x7, but mat it on an 8x10 paper and decorate it like a scrapbook page, then frame it.
