Have you ever gotten scammed on any type of situation. I want to know about all your 'scammed deals'. Just recently we saw an ad in the paper about a property that was selling for a good price. My hubby and I want to get into the rental business. So we called the number. Right away I knew that something was up.. But I went along with it. Short story is that they told my hubby that there were over 150 properties within a 100 mile radius of my home that were selling for low prices. They said they could send out a package for our review for a 1.95. And, as long as we canceled within 30 days, we were good to go. We signed up. With this program you can go online right away and check things out. There were a measily 3 properties for sale and they weren't even that good of prices. We let it go. I ended up convincing my hubbs to cancel the program and he did, all was good, right????
Well.... I can do my banking online and I was doing my usually checking to make sure everything was A-OK.. Well, on there were two debits for 19.80 each. Now, this was 2 months after we had canceled this program. I looked into it and found out that they were another company name but the same company. We called them right away and they assured us that it wasn't them, that we had canceled on time and they wouldn't take any money out. YEAH RIGHT! I did a lot of research and I have found out that they will change the business name, but surprising enough, they all have the same phone number...... So, what are my options, I'm thinking. Well, I called my bank, they said that I could stop payment, but that would cost me 25 per transaction. Or, I could close my account and open a new one.
My hubby and I went in to close the account, and told the lady our story. She left and came back. Said that we could sign this form that would reverse the charges. Sounded way to simple for me. I asked what about if they try it again. SHe said under that name they would not be able to, but if they tried it with another name, we just go in there and sign again and we get our money back. However, this will only work, I guess, when they automatically take the money out via ACH.
So, if you have this problem go and check with your bank to see what they can do.
