Music has been around since before biblical times.... what do you think it so impactful and long lasting?

Music communicates to everyone. You don't have to speak the same language. Or practice the same religion. It can convey feelings. Soothe hurts and bring happiness. It can bring instant recall of memories. Whether they are happy or sad. It is powerful on many levels. Music is universal.

May I suggest listening to those songs again. Close your eyes, Listen, even if you don't understand the language, can you tell what feeling the artist is trying to get across? Is it a happy song, frenzied and angry? Sad? Does it have a beat or rythym that moves you to feel anything?.Use your imagination. People can listen to and understand entire operas in languages they don't speak. Because the music conveys emotion.

Music transcends the boundaries of music. In its simplest form, the mood of the melody ss universal. It is like a language that everyone can understand because it doesn't only speak to the ear, it reaches the soul...

You need to just open your mind and let it flow through. Have you ever listened to pan-pipe music? Man it gives you chills the first time you hear it; sometimes everytime you hear it. It talks to you even though there are no words. Have you ever heard the American Indians sing Amazing Grace in their languages while playing flutes and drums? It is awesome!! Nothing like the way it was written but sooo much more powerful. You do not have to understand the language to understand what they are saying and meaning and to feel!! what they mean.
Todays pop and rock and rap music pales compared to all music written before. I say this even though I love Rock and Roll. I also love the music of the Indians and the Mountain peoples and the Ancient peoples and many religious peoples and Tibetians etc.

You are so right. I get what you mean. The reason why he(the discussor) cannot feel those songs from another language above is because the music is not in its simplest form. One must only hear the melody. Lyrics destroys that. If you would let indigenous people hear something from Beethoven, they would feel the same power and passion any high class person will feel.

I think that its just a way to express yourself. and many people like the fact that they can show everybody how they feel, its also a very healthy way to get your emotions out by letting stress be relieved and just having fun.
It gets people physical and emotional and it could be the fact that people want to show off how good they are so they keep doing it because other people did it and they have to try to trump those people so they can look better.
