Any 'girlfriends' fans? Can anyone tell me what happened to the character 'toni'? Why did they take her out of the show?

She moved to new york to be closer to her daughter who lives with her dad. I think they took her out of show because she was getting more air time than Tracy Ellis Ross who the show was made for. Who knows, they both seem to be divas.
