do not donate to the military!!!!!!!

DO NOT DONATE TO THE MILITARY...unless you really know that the things you are donating are really going to a family in need. Or you can donate and not care where the things really end up. Now is the time where most of us buy or donate something to those families and children that for one reason or another are in need of something. Have you ever thought about how many of the things donated go to these families in need? Here in San Diego we have thousands and thousands of military families. We have many military bases. Many families have loved ones that are hundreds of miles away. Then we have those families with loved ones going on deployment during this season. Last week.....They were giving away stuff that was donated on one of the bases. From Baby Clothes to MP3 players to perfume to toys. Anything that you can imagine being wrapped up underneath your Christmas tree. People were just grabbing things. People were filling up their trunks, their cars, their bags with these things that were donated. What broke my heart was that most of these people grabbing things were NOT people that needed these things. It seemed like everything was up for grabs. Most of these people won't even have to buy any christmas gifts because they grabbed so many they had enough for their sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, cousins, girlfriend....everyone.... I can't imagine donating something that I think is going to a child, or someone that is in need of something to cheer them up going to a family well off or someone that just wants things to give to someone else. I'm in a very bad financial cituation right now. I still found a few dollars to buy something that is going to an orphanage in Mexico. It would drive me crazy if I found out that the stuff I bought with my hard earned money went to anyone other than those kids I'm thinking of. The company I work for has several charity groups they raise money, and accept donations for. And several times a year they accept donations other than money. The point of me babbling off is that just be careful. You think the stuff your giving away is going to people that really need it and your doing such a great thing by doing it. But in reality probably most of the stuff we are giving is going to the wrong people. It's not just military doing this. They were just my example. If you have children why not adopt a family and give the stuff directly to them?
