No, I can't support either. Granted, I think parents need to instill health and fitness into their children...it's very important. I do not think a long standing tradition of Santa Claus should be changed, though. I honestly can't think of any kids I knew that aspired to be like Santa...and I don't think they're going to try to mimic the image itself. Besides, a man who eats tons of cookies and milk...he's not supposed to be skinny! What would 'that' say to kids....you can eat all that junk and still be incredibly thin? Um, no.
As for the "ho, ho, ho," that's an adult issue. Kids don't see that as anything other than a laugh....and because his image is something for the *kids,* I really don't think adults should be making a huge issue about stuff that isn't necessary.

hallo quirkyjessi, thanks alot for your response. I think you and I are reading from the same page. Adults should keep off children affairs. Santa has been here for as long as we can remember and I like him the ways he is.
I did not like the issue at all.
Have a nice day friend.

Those people are delusional! Santa has been around for centuries and I don't think kids sit around thinking about wanting to be overweight like Santa. Most kids that are overweight is due to them not having a healthy lifestyle and no excercise because they are on those video games or computer which what is unhealthy. Most kids know from their parents or school that good eating habits are best and to be active. Those people are just plain silly if they think that just cause Santa is fat and jolly that it will make others want to be like him. HoHoHo offensive..? Why, I guess not only are they delusional these people must also have their minds in the gutter. What child will get something dirty from that? Only if adults tell them a different meaning will they know a different meaning..leave it to some adults to ruin a perfectly innocent meaning for a child. So no I do not support this!

Children have always related Santa as a jolly fat man with rosy cheeks and a big belly. Your discussion gave me a ho,ho,ho because Santa looks like most of what our grandfathers looked like way back when people wore beards. A fat Santa gives the children a sense of trust, love, and a jolly spirit. Why wait until now to try to change him? These people are just trying to start something...next they will say we shouldn't even have a Santa. AHAAAA They make me want to scream. And I bet they are the first to complain if they don't get any gifts at Christmas. We gain more Scrooges ever year...I hope the spirit of Christmas haunts them!

Santa needing to be skinny is just plain silly. We are too worried about the way everything looks now days. I do, of course, support parents teaching their kids to eat healthy and not be too large but I don't think a skinny Santa is really going to make much of a difference. The kids see Santa for about a month every year. It is the other 11 months that make the difference.

I don't support this at all. But what our country is trying change our way of speaking and practice in a more politically correct manner as to not offend anyone is crazy. No matter what you will offend someone, it can be as crazy as saying ho ho ho which is a symbol of santa's for the as long as I know and hear of santa but there are some crazy people out there and they get offended with everything or anything it just depends but for something as crazy as this is simply Crazy....

Heheheee, cartoon I did not know that saying ho ho ho is crazy or offensive. I used to like the saying alot and we used to play with it when we were young. I dont know what the world has come to. Can we blame technology or who? Santa should be left to do his thing as before.

That's stupid because today anorexia and bulimia are very big problems and Santa is not FAT he is just Santa. I mean, there are so many anorexic models, and a big majority of girls try to look like that so why should someone say that Santa should be skinny? That's stupid. Santa is Santa and he laughs HO HO HO. People should be little less sensitive.
