At the moment in my country it is very cold and it gets dark early in the evening. Summer is nicer with sunny days and sometimes it gets quite hot. It says light in the evening until quite late at that time of the year. In the spring it is fairly warm and the trees have new leaves. In the autumn it gets cool and the leaves come off trees.
I like hot weather, say 30 degrees c or 86 degrees f.
What sort of weather do you have where you live?
Do you like it cold, cool, warm or hot most of all?
Do you get much rain or snow?
Thanks.

It has been really cold today, but at least it's dry! I'm sure we are due some snow, as it's getting cold enough for it, but it's rare to get snow in the UK as you know. I can't remember the last time we had a White Christmas sadly, I don't mind seeing snow as long as I am not out in it! We mostly get the rain. I like it cool, I don't like it too hot, because we get the humidity and not the dry heat that some countries are fortunate enough to get. It's far easier to warm up than cool down and the hot weather makes me drowsy and irritable. Autumn for me is the best time of the year.

Yes, lucky it is dry. Last week it rained so much. Where I used to live it often snowed but sadly not at Christmas time. I think countries in Southern Europe like Italy and Greece have hot summers but it is easy to be in because it is a dry heat. I went to Israel and Jordan in the height of the summer. Oh my that was so HOT. However a humid heat is much harder to take. I went to Darwin, Australia in the wet season. It was very hot and sticky, so much so the affects of showering lasted about 2 minutes. When it gets humid in the UK it can be unpleasant. Sunny days are the best I think but cool days can be pleasant too.

we got some funny weather here. I say funny cause I've been in alaska all my life and never seen this before. I live in Southeast part of Alaska called "Ketchikan" It snowed small flakes 2 days ago all night. then yesterday morning i got up and there was a sheet of snow everywhere out my window and ice on the sidewalks. then last night before going to be I heard rain and wind. It was loud wind. this morning I got up and it wasn't raining or windy and no snow or ice. I couldn't believe it. 1 day and half of snow and ice and now nothing. sure we got very small patches of slush and ice along a few sidewalks and parking lots. but it looks like winter is ending outside today. which i know thats not true. here in alaska winter don't end until march or april. It was warm today to, it was 40F all day long. Thats not normal winter for southeast. I wonder how next month will go. January is usually the coldest for alaska. The global warming is really changing alaska this year.

yes I look forward to spring, and yes it will warm up here. The temperature changes going up slowly to 70F. It don't get warmer then 78F here in the summertime. I can't wait to explore other states eventually I want to know what warm weather feels like in the summer. only sometimes its warm here in the summer. It mostly rains then it cools down a little.

Thanks for your excellent response. It sounds incredibly cold in Alaska. I am sure the landscape looked very pretty when the snow flakes were falling. So all the ice melted with the warmer 40f weather. Yes, global warming is making some very cold places like Alaska a bit warmer. It sounds like a long winter. Do you look forward to the spring and will it be much warmer then?

Right now it is 25 degrees we have been having freezing rain and snow. The roads are slick and driving is difficult I am ready for it to be summer time again or at least in the 70's would be nice.

I live in Canada, so today I am in the Great White North! It snowed for a good part of the day and when I left work at 6 pm it was dark, snowy, slushy, slippery and traffic was horribly slow!!! It took me about 1.5 hours to get back home, and it really is only a 15-20 minute drive in clear road when it is not rush hour. My husband said that even going down the street to pick up my daughter was difficult today. I had a meeting at my daughter's school this afternoon and there was just no way that I could make it on time. By the time I got home, the meeting was long over.
In summer, we do get hot weather, and in fact we do have a backward pool. The temperatur in summer reaches 30 degrees C. I prefer cool, not cold or hot weather. So I like the fall and the spring the best. I have severe asthma, so extreme weather conditions do not agree with me very much.
In the last several years, we have experienced very mild winters. Last year especially, we did not really get any snow until mid-January. That was really unusual! We normally have a white Christmas, but in the last 5 years or so, we have had a couple of green Christmases. This was so unusual that the first it happened my husband got me to take a picture of him pretending to mow the lawn!

Thanks for your excellent response. It sounds so very cold in the area of Canada that you live in. When the roads are icy traffic can be slow and I think people must have to walk especially carefully so they don't slip over in the slushy streets. Snowy weather conditions must be make a normally short journey a long slow sort of stopping and starting journey that is rather tiresome. I notice that you prefer cool weather so spring and autumn are perfect for you. Your husband pretending to mow grass on Christmas day must have been amusing. People in the UK dream of a white Christmas but snow rarely happens on this special day of the year.

I am really happy that I do not live in a really really hot climate. I know for sure that I would be really miserable because I find it hard to breathe when it is really hot, let alone when it is as hot as fire, as you describe it!
Also, I am really happy that I get to experience White Christmases most years. I can understand why people dream of having them when they do not. When you wake up in the morning afer a heavy snow, what you see and hear is really different than normal. The trees are blanketed and weighed down with snow. It's so pretty to look at! Also, if it is really sunny out, when you step out of the house, it is so bright that sometimes you feel blinded by the snow. You also get different auditory sensations - sounds are really muffled. Car sounds, for example are really muffled and you hear the tires kind of crunching through the snow, and the engine sounds are much more muted. It is quite the experience!

My country is large, so the weather can be quite different from one part to another. Now it is winter here, however, this year it is quite warm and I feel very comfortable to the weather now. I think today it may be 25 degrees. Hard to believe it's winter now. The temperature gets warmer and warmer.

It is lovely that it is still so warm in your part of the country that you live in. It must be superb to think that it is hard to believe that it is winter now. I went to Brisbane in the Australian winter. Tourists were wearing t shirts and shorts and the locals were wearing jumpers and trousers.

Hi,there! At the moment in my country it's also the winter time.It gets dark earlier. It's somehow cold now and with a little rain today.Usually in spring,we have more rain and it's warm at the time. While in summer it's very hot and dry sometimes it could reach 40 degrees. You just don't wanna go out and the only thing I'd like to do is to stay in the room with the air-conditioner.In fall,it's somehow cool and the weather is usually nice.We feel pretty comfortable in fall.In winter,it's very cold though we may not have much snow.I like when it's warm and cool cause it gives us more chances to go out and have a short trip:) I don't get much snow in my hometown but some rain. Thanks for the discussion and have a nice day^_^

I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and we get the coldest winters anywhere. It goes down to 40 below for about 3 or 4 weeks at a time with no relief. We get lots of snow and they have to clean the streets almost daily. They call Winnipeg, winterpeg, because it is winter here for about 5 to 6 months a year. It starts in late October or early November and stays till late March or ealy April, sometimes even till late April. I hate winter and if I could I would live somewhere else where the weather is better.
But in saying that, we also get the best summers, too. It gets very warm and sunny here. Sometimes too warm, but usually just right. We go camping a lot in the summer and enjoy the outdoors. In the winter I barely step out of the house.

Ha, ha. Winterpeg is Winnipeg then. That is quite funny. I also hate cold winters and so I understand how you feel. It must seem like an incredibly long winter, half the year in fact. Yes, it is wonderful that you value summer days when you can go off camping. Summer sounds perfect where you live. A holiday home somewhere warm for you in the winter would be superb.

It is weird. I am from Michigan (in northern USA). There they have winters with weather as cold as 20 below F. They also get a lot of snow. I have been told that right now it is about 5 degrees F and there is about a foot and a half of snow on the ground. In the summer it gets up to the 80-90 degree F range.
Now I live in Texas (southern USA). Here they say, "Oh no, it is supposed to get cold!" and they are talking about it being 40 degrees F. They rarely get snow (we did have some on Thanksgiving day). It gets chilly out and sometimes cold at night, but nothing like being up north. This summer the temperatures hung around 100 degrees F most of the summer. We were told that this was a mild summer and usually it is about 10-15 degrees warmer.

Great question! I'm from Michigan (USA), and my weather is very similar to yours right now. After Daylight Savings Time hits (in late October), the days get shorter and the weather gets colder.
Here's a breakdown of how the weather is here in Michigan...
Spring is during March, April, and May. The weather is chilly in the mornings and evenings, and there's a lot of rain usually. It can be a high of anywhere from 50 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit during the day. The days start to get longer. The mornings are still dark, but it stays lighter out for longer periods of time. Spring is a breath of fresh air after having a nasty winter!
Summer is during June, July, and August. This season is very pleasant for the most part because the rain goes away, and the outdoor air is fresh. Usually our summers are high temperatures anywhere from 60 to 100 (Fahrenheit) or more during the day. It can get really hot and humid sometimes. This is one of my favorite seasons! Sometimes we do fireworks for fun because it's so nice out but have to wait until it gets dark outside. The days are very long (lots of daylight) during this season. I love it! Sometimes we have really bad thunderstorms and many tornadoes during the summer. Earthquakes are rare for where I live.
Fall is during September, October, and November. This is probably my most favorite season because the leaves changes beautiful colors of red, orange, yellow, purple, and brown before they fall of the trees. The most common activities are hay rides, carving pumpkins, and getting ready for Halloween. The weather starts to get a little chilly, and the days get shorter slowly but surely. (We sometimes have thunderstorms in the fall also, and tornadoes are pretty common.)
Winter is during December, January, and February. It can sometimes last a few months longer, which is unfortunate. The weather can get down to several degrees below zero (Fahrenheit). We get the whole works - blizzards, tons of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and so on. Winter is very extreme here. The weather can be random at times, though. Sometimes we'll have a day where it gets up to 60s and 70s (Fahrenheit) during the day! We've had thunderstorms in the middle of the winter also.
I prefer warm weather - 70s or 80s. I like being able to go outside with either a light jacket or not coat at all. I love sunshine!

Thanks for your excellent response. I really enjoyed reading it. I think spring sounds alright and fall sounds fine thunderstorms and earthquakes sound very unpleasant. The winter sounds quite severe with such very cold weather. I went to Melbourne in Australia. I heard they have four seasons in one day there. one minute its summer, then winter, then autumn and then spring. Oh, my it confused my poor body very much indeed. It was baking hot, then it went very cool. I just didn't know what to wear when I went there. Yes, I also love sunshine!

I am from Miami, Florida. I moved to Montreal, Canada. I've never seen snow in my life until Thanksgiving day I awoke to see snow all around the street, the cars, a site that I had never seen before. Over here we have had one snow day so far, that kids didn't have to go to school. It is -2 degrees celcius outside, around 13-14 degrees farenhiet. I think it's beautiful to look at from inside my house. But I have to park my car in my garage, hop in the car, open the garage door, and then start my car with the heater right away. It is piercing cold outside. When I'm driving I notice that there's a lot of rain or snow hitting my windshield. I miss my Miami, Florida weather. Right about now I could've been at the beach, but now I don't really want to go outside. I wonder how people make snowmen and touch the snow cause I can't. The other day I went outside and couldn't feel my ears for about an hour. At 4:30pm the sun goes down over here. Either way I never see the sun anymore. It just makes this place a little brighter. When It goes down It gets so much colder but, I've been out one time after 4:30. Cause my sister and I are sick, and there's no way I'm going out there. That one time I went out there, I got stuck because I turned the water on to clear my view of the road and It just froze there. I heard that summer's nice, spring is when the snow turns to slush, and fall is beautiful, clean air, brown, orange, yellow, leaves fall all over the street, in the grass. I can't wait to see that again. It's going to be a harsh winter.

Thanks for your excellent response. I think it must have been very hard for you at first to move from sunny Florida to much colder Canada. I would love to go to beautiful Montreal one day, especially if the streets look pretty all covered in snow. It gets dark so early and then it is incredibly cold. I am not surprised to find out you and your sister want to stay out on such cold evenings.

Adelaide is a comparatively hot area, with mild winters. We are in the middle of a very long & serious drought.
Our summers can get quite hot, up to 42 degrees celcius. our winters can get as low as 5 degrees, but more likely it is around 15. We have lovely long autumn & spring days.
My favourite season is the summer, because I was brought up in a very hot place in the north near the desert, & I am used to the heat.
It is supposed to be 29 degrees today.

I have visited Adelaide. The climate sounds great. I love hot summers and a mild winter. However having a drought must be worrying. Spring and autumn sound like they have lovely comfortable temperatures. One of my friends grew up in Cairns. He came to England on a warm day in June and said that it was very cold. You are right about people getting used to the heat if they live in a hot area. Many thanks for your wonderful response.
