I'm having a recipe for cookies, and it calls for 3/8 of an egg, I think I'm having a brain freeze today. I've never heard of 3/8 of an egg,After making cookies soft problem is finished this newer one is developed. So besides the obvious that it's 3/8 what is a better way to tell the amount needed?

its probly from Americas test kitchen or something real people grew up with real chickens that lay whole eggs throw in a whole egg, double the recipe and throw in a whole egg (if youare really bad), or figure the person who developed that recipe is crazy and throw it away nobodys grandma, in metric or avoudupouas would use 3/8 of an egg grandmas are the ones who made sure everybody mostly survived sane to teh next generation

I have never heard of a recipe calling for 3/8 of an egg. If it helps, it's just a little less than half. I wonder how much difference it could really make over just saying half an egg. What kind of cookies are they?

I just use one egg. 4/8 would be half. Stir your egg up. Pour into a measuring cup. Figure out what 1/2 would be and use a little less if this is a low cholesterol recipe. Otherwise, just use the egg. Usually recipes say use just the yolk or just the white if you're not using an entire egg. I don't use recipes with crazy measures or I round them off. Take care

I don't really remember the book cause my cousin wrote it down for me. It may be her fault cause it could be 4/8 there. But she still kept saying it's 3/8. Wonder what kind of measure was that. Still i will round them off as i ain't even regular to kitchen & cooking stuff i thought it must be some way to get that measure. Thanks you all for your responses.Love you all :)
