I bought a 3500 sq. ft. home 5 years ago for $100,000, it is a 105 years old, slowly i have tried to restore it. It still needs some work but it is a nice house in an older neighborhood. My wife and I disagree on whether we should sell the house, if we get offered 3 times as much as we paid. She loves the house, but 3 of our four children are grown up and live on their own and only my 15 year old daughter is left. She says most people would keep it, and i say the opposite. What would you do ? please help.

Oh my to me that would be a personal option. It true you bought the house for a good price, and now fixing it up sounds great. If you and your wife both love the house then keep it...If it were me and i had a 3500 square house i would get lost in it, and then when you daughter leaves home which will not be a long time off it will be a awful large home for just the two of you.I would continue to fix it up and if i could get 3 times what i had into the house back, by selling it then i would sell it and buy a smaller home, but that is me,and your wife may not feel that way.I say if your wife is happy in the home then i would just keep it, but i would live in it and not rent it out...I think for now just continue to fix it up, you have time to decide at a later time.I feel that after your daughter is not home any longer your wife will realize the home is way to large for the two of you and she might change her mind..Its not like you are in a rush to make a decision. So just realx on the disagreement between you too and i feel in time you both will come to a agreement.I feel at this time it is just a bit to early to know what you want.I think after your daughter is grown up and gone things will change..Hang tight.
