What's your opinion on monogamy?

I seem to have conflicting feelings on the subject.. what do you all think?

I am monogamous and believe in monogamy. I certainly would not be interested in polygamy, but I think there are extenuating circumstances. I would have to be given a situation to evaluate, because I think your statement and question is pretty vague, but I'm sure theres situations where I could see it both ways.

I think I left it vague on purpose.. I wanted to see the many varying opinions on the subject.
In particular, the situation that got me thinking about this question is the fact that I am in an open relationship with my boyfriend. We're "allowed" to be with other people, even though we generally don't.
I think that some relationships thrive on being given the option to stray from monogamy, while others follow the rules of monogamy very closely.
I think it's different in every situation..
