If you think he's lazy and are hoping that he'll change, then you both aren't fine. Talk to him about how you feel. Explain your opinions and if you can point out why being 'lazy' as you described it is doing -him- harm as well. If things don't change, they probably aren't going to in the future. So either get used to him being a bum, or hit the road.
