I used to play this game when i was in my school. I mean when i was 14 years old. It was my second favourite game.
Kho- Kho is an Indian game( it is our local game blink). It is popular in my country India. I am not sure if anybody knows about this game here. It originated at Pune, Gymkana in the state of Maharashtra (you might come to know if i say, Pune is near by Mumbai). Its a team in India, which would be maintained and develop by Kho- Kho Federation of India (KKFI).
Kho- Kho is a game played in 2 innings by 12 nominated players out of 15, on each side. Each team consists of twelve players, but only nine players take the field for a contest. Eight members of the chasing team sit in their squares on the central lane. Alternately facing the opposite direction, next to each other, while the ninth member is an active chaser, and stands at any one of the posts, ready to begin the chase the opposite team member. There will be 8 squares on the central Lane. Members of the chasing team, have to put their palm out of the line, should not be a foul. All the action in Kho-Kho is provided by the runners, who try to play out within a few minutes of time, and the chasers who try to dismiss them. Time would be decided as per the sport convinience, or the ampire decision.
A defender can be dismissed in two ways:
1) if he is touched by an active chaser with his palm without committing a foul( it may not be palm, it could be anything of his body),
2) if he goes out of the limits on his own.
Field
The Kho- Kho playground is rectangular. It is 27 meters in length and 15 meters in breadth.
The equipments used in Kho- Kho are two watches, Water to spill on the mud, so that player dont slip, score sheets and stationery to write results etc.
