How do you choose what discussions to respond to ?

I used to have some sort of routine when i used to mylot a lot. I have just came back recently and have started off each day so far by going to the section "discussions my friends started". I think this is a good way to create loyal mylot friends, as they will hopefully answer your discussions, if you continue to answer theirs. I also like to go to the discussions with no responses, as you are more likely to get the best response if no one else has responded!! Anyone else have any good tips ?

I usually start with my friends discussions also and then go to the discussions with 0 responses usually to find very little there (I lucked out with this one!). When I'm done with all of that I start going through my discussions responding to and rating the replies I got. I will only respond to discussions that I have some interest in and can actually say something about.

Sounds like we have a similar way of doing things. Maybe we should become friends :)

I just go to new discussion and have a look...I don't really bother looking at friend's discussions... I also looked at those discussions which I know how to answer....

Yea i dont answer discussions i dont have an opinion on or know anything about! But if you make a lot of discussions its good to answer your friends discussions so that they will answer yours as well.. or that's the idea anyways!

Well, for me, it depends on the mood I am in as to which discussions I decide to answer first. And what I have learned, is sometimes you will have a better chance if your response is one of the Top 10 so you will be chosen as Best Response, but that does not always happen. It is nice though when it happens though huh? Welcome Back to myLot, and hope you will continue to be an active member here. I still Love this site, and that is why I continue to come back here when I can.

Really i thought you'd have a better chance at best response if you answer the ones with no repsonses at all, as long as the people who started the discussion didn't give up and stop coming on mylot that is.

I usually check out my friends discussions first and answer anything interesting to me. Then I move on to discussions from my interests. If I still have time, I go to discussions with no responses and then finally, new user discussions. When I first joined, I could always find something to respond to. In the last few months, I can't hardly find anything to peak my interest and curiosity.

I had that problem too which is why i took the long break i did. But now that i have had a break mylot is addicting as ever again! Only problem is a lot of the people that were here when i started have now gone on to other places or something! that's ok though i get to discuss with new peoples as well as some of the people that where here with i first joined!

I used to have a system also where I would write down what categories I posted to and how many but that did not work to well, now I just post to topics that interest me and my friends posts

Do you ever go to "my unresolved discussions" ? I usually check that every few discussions i reply to as well so i can keep up with responding to my responses.

I stick with my friends.. My wife goes around new discussions because she's fairly new here and for this moment she uses my account but I have stick to friends and then roam away into other section when I feel I've done my share of commening and supporting my buddies. ~Joey

I respond to my friends as well. to as many discussions as i can. some of them i dont know anything about and i dont feel like i can contribute anything to the discussion, then i wont..
13 Dec 07
i normally do like most people. start off with my friends, then once i have commented on them, i start to look for discussions i find interesting or i have an opinion on. i wouldnt comment on a discussion if i didnt have any "personal attachment" to it if you get me.

I gotchya! I skip some too even if my friends have started the discussions because it'd be useless for me to answer when i know NOTHING about the topic!

I usually start off by responding to discussions from those that I receive in emails. Then from there I usually go to "discussions my friends started" as I don't have all my friends notifications set to on. After that I will go to hot or top discussions. I normally go for "discussions with no responses" last as I don't want someone to pick my response as best response all because it is the only response in the discussion. I'm not looking to rack up best responses this way...

I answer my friends discussions from my email. I have my notify button on and I receive emails when my friends start a discussion. Yes I too, like to be a loyal friend. Then I as I am responding to my friends discussions I page down and see if there are any other discussions of the same topic on the bottom of the page. If I can I will respond to some of them. I haev tried going into the link for discussions with no responses, but it is so hard to find any that I have something to add to. They are in the discussion with no responses for a reason. I quite often go into my friends profiles and look to see if I can respond to any of their older discussions they wrote before we became friends.

That is a good idea too! going to friends pages to find discussions that either they started before you became friends, or if you have similar interests, then sometimes you can find good discussions that they have already responded to!

Well I respond to discussions I like. Hehe, by that I mean whenever I read discussions, there are discussions that make me feel like replying them because they match my interest or whatever. I am responding to your discussion because I like what you are asking and feel like responding.:-)

You should try answering your friends discussions first, and responding to the people that responded to your discussios, you can build up quite the following of people who help you out when you use this method :)

I seek out my friends post first then I would go on to my interest discussion after that and then to the today's top discussions...that is how I go about it...My friends on here make great discussions....

I wait for ppl to add me as friends, cause usually if they add me as their friends, then they are going to remain active and we can help eachother out back and forth with discussions. but it is HARD sometimes to create interesting discussions everyone will like!

I would like to join the dicussion that i am interested in. Because i am the novice of mylot, so any reply to my responds would inspire me to write more. As a new number of mylot, i would like to make friends with others, especially people who are kindly to reply me. Now, from your opinion ,i will start with my friends and try to care mostof their discussion. Maybe it is a way to express my thanks to them.

It is always a good idea to have friends on your list, they can/will help you with your discussions, as long as they are decent discussions and you have topics that interest them :) good luck with your mylotting :)

lols. i think we are doing the same thing. anyways i have changed tactics since mylot has a new upgrade. i used to go directly in the discussions my friends started page but now i go directly to the discussions from my interests page. i find it easier to respond to topics here and i like it much better because my of the rankings.. well it suddenly motivated me to respond to more and more discussions as i like it when my ranking elevate. thats all. thanks for the discussion.

Hi,there! On one side,I usually choose the discussions that are pretty hot or the top ones.In those ones,I'll pick the ones that I'm interested in or those which I can offer some help or suggestions:) On the other side,I'll also go to my friends' page to see what's going on with them and see what I can respond to:) If there're some discussions that I can't answer or I have never had the experience,I won't give the responses cause I don't think I'm qualified. Thanks for the dicussion and have a nice day^_^

Yeah just like everyone else I go to friends first then I will reply to people that have posted on my discussions that I need more indepth or something from their responce. And then it's a toss up. No responses hot topics and new discussions that's always my next step. But I like to stay with in my intrests and I log off and come back two three hours later so I don't get bored and then there will be alot of things to talk about and reply to.

You would be surprised! some people do not go to their friends first! i have friends on my list that i dont think ever answered any of my discussions!
13 Dec 07
I some times like to start my own discussions. But I do check my responses to see if I want to add to any responses. Then I'll go into my interests ; that gives me a lot of fresh things to talk about. You can get a discussion started if there are no discussions if there are a lot of people with that same interest. Just make it real interesting so you'll get some responses. I hope I helped with some advice.
